@bznotes @EvolvTechnology There’s thousands of these in trash heaps throughout Iraq and Afghanistan cause they couldn’t detect bombs. Might as well try to resell them as Covid 19 detectors, right? The guys who originally sold these can currently be found in prison.

OMG. This nonsense.
This sort of fraud was sold to hotels and venues across the world as ‘bombs detectors’, and led to many lives lost when they simply didn’t work.

An example of an answer I would give years ago would be something like: early google search. That was a technology that solved an actual problem and really made my life better and felt like it made the world better, too.
