Many thanks to the numerous people who spoke to us for this piece ⚽️ Summer football would avoid winter washouts & potentially be more enjoyable - but there are drawbacks as well 🌧️ It’s just a limited trial atm, but could it also be more suitable for juniors than adult teams?

I’ll have a number of his amazing Blinding Floodlights book for sale at the Northern Hop hopefully and all proceeds will be going to the charity his family nominate.

I am saddened to announce the passing of my good friend, @SUFCRootsHall Historian and groundhopper extraordinaire Peter Miles (@PeterRMiles), who passed away on March 1st. Peter will be missed by his family and friends, the Shrimper community and all football people. RIP Peter 💙

@marchamjack Here’s a panorama of mine, shows the steep seating rake and shallow terrace.

@marchamjack The rows of seats in the stand were steep, the terrace below did continue out that far too. The terracing was very shallow and under the stand the view was awful. Stood there just once, International v Luxembourg with a 5-0 win circa 1975.

Came across this photo (colourised?) on another site and never seen it before. Did the West Terrace come out that far (or is the double decker an earlier, shorter version of the last one)? When’s it from? Leave it there for discussion…

Terrible to hear that @PeterRMiles has died. We met Pete in 1995 as we started work on his Grounds of Essex & East London. More recently I published his Blinding Floodlights. I’ve got ten copies on sale, all proceeds to go to his family’s choice of charity footballgroundsfrenzy2.com/product/blindi…
