I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.

@nmlinguaphile I'm sure this clown, @michaeldweiss, actually has any real info on what happened. Plus, was he crying about the equipment left behind in the Afghanistan debacle? 7.12 billion dollars, and 13 U.S. servicemen. You are absolutely right, @nmlinguaphile.🇺🇸

At just 4’9” tall and 97 pounds, Richard J. Flaherty became one of the most remarkable soldiers in U.S. Army history — and the smallest commissioned officer and Green Beret to ever serve. Born in 1945, Flaherty faced repeated rejection due to his size when trying to enlist. Undeterred, he persisted for years and ultimately secured a special congressional waiver that allowed him to join the Army. He completed basic training, graduated from Infantry Officer Candidate School as a second lieutenant, and deployed to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. There, he served as a platoon leader during the intense fighting of the Tet Offensive, earning a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars with Valor, and two Purple Hearts for his bravery and leadership. After his initial tour, he attended Special Forces training at Fort Bragg, earned his Green Beret, and was promoted to Captain. He later served as a detachment commander with the 3rd Special Forces Group in Thailand and with the 10th Special Forces Group. Known as “The Giant Killer,” Flaherty proved that true strength and leadership have nothing to do with physical size. 🇺🇸

@LibertyBelle208 @NICEnforcement A bounty/ reward system for illegals and their employers/ landlords would bring about a surge in self deportation. 1k reward ea for illegals 5k reward ea for employers and landlords. Most would be gone in a month. After a set date send illegals to a safe 3rd country in Africa.

@JoelMorrowADTC Anecdotal: experience w the 60 series in the '80's to DD 15 currently. Company driver with fleets. Really reliable, govt. mandated emissions systems are 90% of maintenance issues. It seems 450k is when it becomes too unreliable to run 7 days a week w 129,000lb loads.

A non-emissions (pre-EGR/pre-DPF) Detroit Diesel 60 Series (typically the 12.7L from the late 1990s to early 2000s, like DDEC III/IV models) is legendary for longevity when properly maintained. Owners and mechanics commonly report it running 700,000 to 1,000,000 miles before a major overhaul is needed, with many well-cared-for examples reaching 1.2 million to 1.5+ million miles with only minor work (e.g., injectors, turbo, or head work). Some have hit over 2 million miles with one or more rebuilds along the way. Key Factors for the 60 Series • Detroit originally recommended an initial overhaul around 500,000 miles, later extended to 750,000 miles based on real-world data. • With good oil changes (every 15,000–30,000 miles depending on duty cycle), fuel quality, and avoiding extreme abuse, these engines often need little beyond routine service until high mileage. • Common wear items before full overhaul: camshaft, bull gear, injectors, and occasional oil consumption. The simple design (no complex aftertreatment) means fewer things to fail and lower operating stress. • In-frame rebuilds can often extend life further if the block and crank are still solid. These numbers assume line-haul or mixed use with consistent maintenance; short-haul/idling-heavy service shortens intervals. A 2023 Volvo D13TC (Turbo Compound variant of the 13L D13, EPA 2021+ emissions-compliant) is also a strong, modern engine, but the full emissions/aftertreatment system (DPF, SCR/DEF, EGR, DOC) introduces more variables. The core engine itself is highly reliable, with Volvo claiming industry-leading durability and a B50 life (50% of engines reaching this without major failure) around 1.2 million miles or better in some fleet data. Real-world reports show many D13 variants (including TC) reaching 800,000 to 1.2+ million miles before a full engine overhaul, with some older D13s hitting 1.4–1.8 million miles with proper care. Key Factors for the D13TC • The base engine (head, block, internals) is robust and often described as “easy like a Series 60” but with tighter tolerances and higher efficiency. • Emissions system is the bigger wildcard: DPF/SCR issues, injector cups, EGR components, and regen-related stress can require significant work (sensors, cleaning, or replacement) as early as 300,000–500,000 miles in some cases, even if the core engine is fine. Turbo compound adds efficiency but can have its own maintenance nuances. • Volvo promotes the D13TC as one of their most reliable engines ever due to a simpler turbo setup with fewer moving parts compared to some prior variants. • Maintenance is critical—strict adherence to oil/DEF/filter intervals, avoiding interrupted regens, and good fuel quality help maximize life. High-idle or stop-and-go duty cycles accelerate aftertreatment wear. Direct Comparison • Non-emissions 60 Series generally edges out in “set it and forget it” simplicity and raw miles-to-overhaul potential for the core engine, thanks to no emissions hardware to maintain or fail. Many truckers view pre-2007 60 Series as bulletproof million-mile motors with minimal downtime. • 2023 D13TC offers better fuel economy, power delivery, and lower emissions, plus strong core longevity, but you’ll likely deal with more frequent (and costly) aftertreatment/EGR-related service in the 400k–800k mile range. The engine itself can match or exceed the 60 Series in total miles, but overall truck uptime may be lower due to emissions complexity. • Both can exceed 1 million miles before a full overhaul with excellent maintenance. The 60 Series tends to be cheaper and simpler to repair when the time comes. @lets_truck any thoughts?

@JoelWBerry @TRHLofficial I've seen two mules deer bucks shot broadside, with a .300 Win Mag. One at 115 yards, the other at 330 yards. No exit, couldn't find the bullet. I was really surprised, based on always seeing an exit w .308. Bullets do weird things.

I don’t really care if this is unpopular, but I think what really happened to Charlie goes deeper than just some fagg0tt with a gun; I believe it was orchestrated by evil people with motivations so menacing and sinister, they spit in the face of God.

@NewTruckerMike Not really. I use a Taurus 856 .38 Snubbie. The shot loads work great out of it. The .410 would be vastly superior, but they are kind of a big revolver to carry.

@GordMagill What happened to that whole "CSA score" thing? Wasn't that sold as brokers will check your CSA score, and not hire trucking companies with bad scores? It seems like having Federal oversight has only created jobs for Feds.

There’s no reason that staff at any DC or other logistics facility can’t use these same tools and figure what kind of incompetent dipshits are hauling their freight. And then they can stop using them.

If you're a chameleon carrier running Amazon freight in the middle of the night along I-85 in South Carolina, I'm the last person driving a mini van you want to be cutting off. The Walmart driver didn't appreciate it either.

@Thewhitesmoke Because I drive truck, and sit at the same height as other trucks, it is shocking how many of these "truck drivers" are looking at their phones. Also, due to lack of experience, they have no awareness of where the truck is at in the lane, and don't seem to care.

Same-direction sideswipes made up 31.3% of large trucks involved in property-damage-only crashes and 17.6% in injury crashes. Sideswipes arent the deadliest but they're the most frequent. Same lane. Next lane over. Merge gone bad. Driver drift. Blind spot. Bad mirror work. A car hanging beside a truck. A truck driver moving before the space is really there. It's usually driver error or inattention on both sides.
