It was different for me in the 1980s & 90s in the New Hampshire public school system. Each group of ten represented a grading category. An “A+” on a report card was almost non-existent (usually reserved for extra-curricular achievements). On graded papers, the “A+” was only awarded if you received a 100 and then got the bonus material correct as well. This always seemed straight forward and simple to me. When my nephew started attending school in the 2010’s, I was shocked to see they had done away with this grading system in favor of the more confusing and generous system seen in that image. No wonder our graduates today are so disadvantaged. They’ve been getting participation trophy grades.

Uhhhhh, this seems kind of insane to me. When I was in school, a "B+" was a 92 and an "A-" was a 93-95. What was considered an A when you were in school?!
