@real_n3o “Survival matters more than optics” … truth

There have been questions around recent layoffs and changes at Wilder World. Here are my thoughts: First, we are one of a small number of projects from the 2021 Web3 gaming cycle that still has a meaningfully sized full-time team. Many teams have quietly shut down or faded away. The reality right now is that survival matters more than optics. Teams that survive will thrive. Those that optimize for sentiment instead of durability won’t make it. Second, the broader economic environment is tightening. Hiring has slowed across much of the global economy, and layoffs are increasing across multiple sectors. At the same time, AI is accelerating structural change in the labor market. Companies that want to remain competitive will have to adapt quickly to these shifts, both technologically and organizationally. Third, AI is already producing a significant productivity boost. Individuals and teams that learn to use these tools effectively can operate at dramatically higher output than before. That does not mean everyone will automatically benefit. Like any major technological shift, the advantage will accrue to those who put in the work to learn and apply the new capabilities. Fourth, it should not be controversial to say that Web3 gaming as a category has not yet achieved clear product–market fit. The logical response is to adapt and keep searching for it. For Wilder World, our current view is that the long-term opportunity lies in building a virtual world where players and autonomous agents can interact, build, and create new experiences together. Our core products remain the same, but agents represent a major expansion in what becomes possible within the ecosystem. We believe this will increase our probability of success and can hyper-accelerate our timeline. Fifth, our operational focus is simple: a) increase daily users, b) increase daily revenue, and c) increase daily transactions (in a sustainable way). We have seen encouraging momentum this year, but we also recognize that our current distribution channels are limited. Crypto Twitter, Discord, and the existing Web3 ecosystem are largely echo chambers. To grow meaningfully, we need broader and more novel distribution strategies. We have many new products, features, releases, and distribution strategies in the process of being rolled out. Each one builds on the strong foundation we have created while leveraging AI and our existing learnings to the fullest extent possible. Finally, the core team is working extremely hard. Many people across the organization are working nearly around the clock because we believe in what we are building.
