The Lebanese military delegation for talks with Israel in Washington DC on Friday will consist of six officers from the Lebanese army, including the commander of operations, George Rizkallah, sources in the Lebanese presidency told Saudi A-Sharq. The sources stated that the Lebanese military delegation will demand a timeframe for the IDF's withdrawal from southern Lebanon and discuss the manner of deploying the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon after the IDF's withdrawal. Additionally, the Lebanese delegation will demand equipment and supplies for the deployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country. The Lebanese sources also stated that there are talks between the Lebanese presidency and Hezbollah, but they are not significant.

Today, I spoke with the President Herzog of Israel. I reiterated that the appalling treatment of civilians aboard the Gaza-bound flotilla was unacceptable, and that respect for human dignity must be upheld everywhere, at all times. I underlined the imperative of de-escalation in the Middle East, and the importance of a genuine resumption of dialogue among all parties. Progress toward peace and stability in the region must remain the clear, shared objective.

Rubio: Israel always has right to protect itself. Every country does. If #Hezbollah is going to launch missiles at them, Israel has every right to respond to that or to prevent that from happening. That’s always been understood during ceasefire,it will be understood beyond that."

ETHIOPIA just accused Egypt of blocking its Red Sea access bid. Days after Cairo signed a maritime cooperation deal with Eritrea Ethiopia's historic adversary. This is not a bilateral dispute. It is the Horn of Africa's land and sea rivalries being fought through port agreements. Egypt's foreign minister travelled to Asmara personally and stated that Red Sea governance must remain the "exclusive responsibility" of littoral states. "Non-littoral parties have no right to engage in arrangements related to the Red Sea." That statement is not about Ethiopia. It is Egypt staking a claim to regional maritime governance at the exact moment the corridor is most contested and locking in Eritrea's 1,200 kilometers of coastline while doing it. Ethiopia is being squeezed out of the Red Sea by the very states it needs to work with. That has consequences for every trade corridor feeding into the Horn. al-monitor.com/originals/2026…

According to the NYT • U.S. naval blockade lifted • Sanctions relief explicitly written into the text • Strait of Hormuz reopens under Iranian management authority, no tolls • Fighting halts on ALL fronts, including Lebanon • Nuclear program, missile arsenal, and enrichment future all deferred to a second round of talks Iran gave one vague general commitment on its highly enriched uranium stockpile with zero details on disposal. Iran's own Foreign Ministry confirmed nuclear issues are NOT part of the current agreement.
