During #SmallBusinessSaturday yesterday @LizALPatel & I joined the fab @AltrinchamBID, @TraffordCouncil colleagues & others for the Purple Flag assessment of Altrincham Town Centre. Started at 5pm, ended around 1.40am. Great to visit so many businesses.

Today, we remember all those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice, courage and commitment to peace will never be forgotten. We will remember them.

During today’s Commons debate on supporting our high streets, I couldn’t resist reminding the @DamianHinds that culture plays a big part too. Always nice when the opposition call you “a Man for All Seasons” - I’ll take that 😉

Couldn’t be happier for my friend @LucyMPowell on becoming Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. Lucy’s a brilliant colleague & a true Mancunian: hardworking, straight-talking, courageous & always a voice for working people. She’ll be fantastic in the role. Congratulations, Lucy!

Last weekend, I hosted a residents’ coffee morning at Benchill Community Centre in Wythenshawe. There was some really constructive discussions about how best to invest the £20 million Pride in Place funding we’ve worked so hard to secure. Huge thanks to everyone who came along.
