FOX News breaks the story we've been talking about. Incumbent Sheriff Ed Gonzalez opted Harris County out of the protective 287g program that allows ICE to identify illegal immigrants upon arrest of a crime. The program saves lives. We need 287g in and Ed Gonzalez out. I will fight to bring back 287g to Harris County. We can make Harris County safer with a Sheriff who makes safety and not politics his top priority. Vote Mike Knox for Harris County Sheriff TODAY. Well, I lost my bid to be the next Sheriff of Harris County to the incumbent Ed Gonzalez. I congratulate Sheriff Gonzales on his victory and wish him success. While team Knox lost this race we are not defeated. My team, volunteers, precinct chairs, family and friends worked very hard. I thank all of you for your efforts. On the upside the Republican team made progress in the judge races. I want to leave each of you with a lesson I learned from observing our new President Elect, Donald Trump. You are never defeated until you surrender. We lost this race but it is just an obstacle to restoring Harris County to some degree of sanity. Work through the obstacles. Never stop pushing and continue to Fight! Fight! Fight!

Why Harris County never follows the election code is beyond me! NO, Sheriff @SheriffEd_HCSO , an inmate wristband with a birthdate on it is NOT one of the 7 forms of ID required under the Texas Election Code to vote! Also, I want to point out that Harris County is authorized to be placed under the oversight of the @TXsecofstate due to the passage of my SB 1933, and it would be wise for Assistant Chief @BosquezPhillip to contact SOS before they violate the law at the Jail! Interesting @TexasTribune @PoojaSalhotra article to read (texastribune.org/2024/10/31/vot…), but inmates needing only a wristband to vote @HarrisVotes on Tuesday is NOT in Texas statutes anywhere! #txlege @TPPF @jen_rice_ @hollyshansen

Here's a @FoxNews National story that 4 out of 10 violent criminals in the Harris County Jail have ICE holds, but the incumbent Democrat Sheriff @SheriffEd_HCSO did away with checking on their status the moment he stopped using 287(g) nearly on his 1st day in office to check these criminal inmates immigration status! Letting 1,170 violent criminals stay in Harris County as opposed to letting ICE pick them up and deport them is one of many reasons to vote for Republican @MikeKnoxTX for Harris County Sheriff! @HarrisCountyRP

🇺🇸 HARRIS COUNTY VOTERS 🇺🇸 This testimony is provided by Tom Zakes, a local attorney and friend, and shared with his permission. IF THIS ISN'T ENOUGH TESTIMONY TO VOTE FOR @dansimons4da and @MikeKnoxTX for Sheriff, I don't know what is. 😔 "Four years ago, on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I got a call from my brother in Austin. I thought about letting it go to voicemail, but instead, I paused the football playoff game I was watching and took the call. It turned out our youngest brother had been killed by a drunk driver the night before. He had been helping a friend with car trouble in Galena Park, a small suburb on the east side of town, and was on his way back to his fixer-upper home in Jacinto City, another suburb, a mere 4 miles away, when he was hit head on by a vehicle driven by a 24 year old young man on a two lane dark road. "The Jacinto City Police responded to the scene, realized they needed backup, and called for the Sheriff’s Office to send deputies to help with the investigation. Marty was still alive and was transported to a nearby hospital, as was his killer. The confusion got worse as time went on. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has had for about two decades a group of prosecutors assigned solely to fatality accidents caused by suspected impaired drivers. Their policy is that day or night, they should be called by law enforcement to make the scene of every crash they will be handling. They know what will be needed in Court to establish the elements of the crime in front of a jury, and how to legally and thoroughly collect it. "Needless to say, after speaking to my brother, I didn’t get back to watching the playoff game. I spent the next few hours on my laptop and on the phone trying to get information and on my face bawling over the tragic loss of life. Coincidentally, Marty’s son was the same age as the young man who killed Marty. "The next fourteen months were probably the biggest legal nightmare I had ever encountered, which out of a thirty-five year legal career, handling mostly criminal cases ranging from traffic tickets to child abuse to capital murder, says a lot. Getting complete information from the police took over two months. Getting accurate information from the prosecutor took even more. "When I was in law school, the legendary Johnny Holmes spoke to our class about what it was like to work for him in the District Attorney’s Office. He said his prosecutors were given a great deal of discretion in accepting, rejecting, and dismissing cases. I even considered going to work for him, but I’ll leave that story for another day. "During the twenty years since Johnny retired, there had been a string of new prosecutors, both as the DA on the 6th Floor, as well as their hundreds of assistants. With new people came new policies. The one that applied to Marty’s case was that in order to accept charges, the decision was made by a committee of twenty people – some prosecutors who had tried many DWIs and Intoxication Manslaughter cases, some who had not tried any. Some on the committee were not even lawyers. What finally transpired in the end was that this faceless committee had voted that Marty’s killer should not be prosecuted. "The basic problem they saw with the case was with the collection of evidence. While at the hospital, the staff attempted to draw a sample of the killer’s blood for their usual work in treating a person brought in for their care. He refused to allow his blood to be taken. The law enforcement personnel on the scene then started the tedious work of applying for a warrant to require that his blood be drawn. What they did not realize and what a prosecutor on the scene could have told them is that under state law, a blood draw is mandatory in a potential fatality crash with a suspected impaired driver. No warrant was necessary. "By the time the blood was drawn, six hours had elapsed since the crash. (con't)

Pastor Rolin Roberson on why he is voting for Mike Knox for Harris County Sheriff: "I think he will be transparent. I'm voting for him because I believe that he has integrity, he has honesty and that's what we are looking for."
