The best advice I received before choosing the path of becoming a ghostwriter was “learning copywriting”
I was not learning copywriting because I wanted to use it as a back up skill in case I fail as a Ghostwriter, or because I wanted to sound like a sales expert in my content.
Here is the reason;
To attract a quality audience and clients, you need a strong compelling voice. Let me describe it as that small element that will make them get stuck on your page.
This post is not about how to become a copywriter, it is very far from that. We are trying to achieve one thing, how to become a better writer.
Let's begin with the first element;
✍️Tell a story:
Growing up my Dad used to be a salesman who ran his own business. One thing I learnt from him was how he would engage customers with deep conversations, tell them all kinds of stories about his business.
It was not unprofessionalism, but a way to make them comfortable, most of them would even laugh at his stories. One thing always clicked, they will buy and still return again.
As a writer your personal story is obviously your cheat code, get readers comfortable and you will build trust, your messages will be passed across in the most seamless way Believe me they will obviously return for more😄
✍️Make your readers the superior beings:
There is this popular saying in business; "Customers are always right". Let's rephrase this into the writer's world.
"Your audience are important beings"
Without even at least one person reading this post, then the whole essence is pointless. Readers are your customers, as a Ghostwriter one of your mission is to convert readers to potential clients.
To achieve this, you have to place them at the centre of your writing. Building trust with your audience will definitely set you up as an outstanding writer who knows how to get the job done.
If you still treat readers as just guests visiting your page then you are doing it wrong, they are part of the circle.
✍️Promise outcome, not just learning:
Starting off as a writer I would visit the big creator page. Wait! Do you think I was there just to learn?
I was more interested in their outcomes, and experiences. How they passed different phases, how they unlocked a better understanding of their niche.
I will tell you this for free, your outcomes are basically what makes people want to engage with your content, let's see it as the real description of authority.
@VikTorSmart_ will say don't just sell content, sell outcomes too, they are like two sides of a coin that makes you stand out.
✍️Frame the problem, then educate solution:
This phrase caught my attention when I started off as a jobber in the space “Clients will only pay for your service if you have the solution to their problems”
SIMPLE!!!
What has kept a lot of writers and creators going is their ability to point out challenges, and give solutions to them.
They focus on top problems faced by brands and founders, and present solutions.
This actually shows a deep level of understanding towards your niche.
🖋️ Writing is actually easy when you understand these better ways of doing it.
You are writing for humans, you definitely have to include elements that would attract humans in your contents.
