It’s absolutely ludicrous to conclude that when kids want to hide things from their parents there must be a good reason. Young people (and older people) have been concealing things from the parents they love since forever!

London has to be the worst traffic city in the world, right? It takes an hour to go five miles if you’re lucky.

@MatRyanELATeach @poorerthandead I think that would have taken a level of grace and self control that very few people possess. I’m willing to allow her to answer a question that was asked of her.

Hillary Clinton promoted the Russian narrative. She spoke of Trump’s presidency as being illegitimate. She said he knows he stole the election. Following her lead, many Democrats said he stole the election and would do it again.

@MatRyanELATeach @poorerthandead I know it may seem that way - that she inserted herself - but she did not. She was scheduled to be on Maddow weeks ago to promote something. It was just coincidence that her appearance crossed with the indictment news. Maddow wasn’t going to not talk about historic news.

There is absolutely no person who has ever studied Frederick Douglass or read his writings who could possibly imagine him saying anything like this. It is disgusting that FL kids are being brainwashed and lied to like this.
David Heath@davidhth

Of all the PragerU propaganda you've seen, this might be the worst. Frederick Douglass takes a dig at BLM while praising the founding fathers as abolitionists and calling the Constitution a "glorious liberty document." Florida is letting schools play this stuff.

@MatRyanELATeach Here- let’s ditch Richard 3, too! “The fact that this play is about a grown adult man murdering his brother and young nephews and wooing the wife of his enemy (whom he killed!) should be justification enough for some not to read it!” 😆 😆 😆

The Wynn Golf Club is one of the most expensive public-access courses in the country ($600+). And now you must stare at a 366-foot tall and 516-foot wide fake eyeball while you play. They can’t be happy about that.

@MatRyanELATeach Meh…I read enough when I got to the part where he put “systems of oppression” in quotes, which is exactly what someone who has never been on the receiving end of an oppressive system, or has the capacity to investigate one, would do.

I was lucky enough to get an early look at this article. It’s a strong response to what the NCTE is pushing.
Fordham Institute@educationgadfly

A @ncte policy brief espouses “critical theory,” a progressive, postmodern approach to reading—that's also fundamentally flawed, writes @MrDanielBuck. At best, it's a literary parlor trick. At worst, it nefariously slips political ideas into classrooms. fordhaminstitute.org/national/comme…

@AnnebetPettit This is great, @carlrosin - and thanks, Annebet, for amplifying it. Carl, I might be using some of your words in the tougher conversations I’ve been having lately with some students reading a challenging text. Thanks!

This is a genius response (from a truly brilliant teacher so ok not surprising) to “this book is boring.”
Carl Rosin@carlrosin

@GaleMorrisonEd 3/3 …In a few years, you may be ready to come back to this and rejoice in it. The book is not ‘boring’; *you* may be bored trying to read it because the things that make it great just may not be visible to you yet. Try again in a few years, and tell me what you thought of it!”

@MatRyanELATeach I get that thought, but on the other hand, does it matter what their discipline/gl? Would you have said something like, “there are teachers on here who have a lot to say about hockey and baseball cards and yet I don’t know what subject/grade they teach?”

@MikeSpilly Maybe. It’s just a thought that came to me when I considered some teachers on here. Some I know specifically their discipline and grade level while others I haven’t the first clue. Folks can obviously share what and how they choose.

@MatRyanELATeach Got it...but what if, say, my classroom library copy of Sherman Alexie's "Absolutely True Diary...." gets water logged in a run-of-the-mill Nalgene accident and I never bother to replace it. No ban, yes?

@MikeSpilly It’s only decisions where access to previously accessible books are restricted or diminished. For instance, when a teacher removes all the books in their classroom because of a moral complaint against the author.
