Nice idea and great study. But given we can’t get patients to take their meds, what chances do we have at getting them into a heat suit 4 times a week for an hour? All while our built environment does everything it can to remove thermal stress from our lives (e.g. air con)

The media are generally doing a poor job of reporting on this issue. But the biggest failing is leadership from the IOC and the lack of a credible boxing gov body. Creates room for misinformation, and the athlete takes the worst of it.

@mackinprof I was having this conversation with a colleague the other day about the UK “PhD by publication” model which used to be a marker of rigour. Now it can just reflect the fact you did some very average work but had a budget for OA fees.

There are no longer any real barriers to publishing anything in science. You can find a paper to cite to support just about any view. People also believe that because it's published, it's true. High-volume, OA, pay-to-publish journals are slowly destroying science... 1/

I’ve recognised mine changing as I age/have a family. But interesting to see that shift happening on a national scale.

@Dr_Burr Would have been interesting to see how much the model changed if LBM was included, given influence of mass. I imagine that would have been by far the strongest predictor of Hb mass. Not sure we’re ready to throw out the CO rebreathe kit just yet @jctremble @E_J_Jenkins
