I recently read something that @TheWARmonger_ said on a post that catch prob is mostly range and walls are almost imaginary.

Defensive WAR isn’t calculated based on how many times a player caught a baseball, but on how many more runs they save than an average player at their position. Not to take away from how cool Adell’s performance was, but most MLB outfielders could have caught those fly balls.

Now factor in a wall that you have to scale or reach and jump over while holding onto the ball and that is the part where this isn’t happening 8 out of 10 times.

@allgood122172 @DBach218 It’s only not normal to rob three homers in one game because it requires three baseballs being hit only a couple feet past the outfield fence to the exact same third of the field. If every home run was hit within two feet of the fence we’d see these kinds of games commonly.

@idontjudd @TheWARmonger_ Then I’d say the probability “stat” is very flawed. To not factor in a wall, which is part of every single MLB stadium, is ridiculous. Even Jo Adell isn’t making this same catch 8 times out of 10.

@markbgger @SamBlum3 @Thomas_L_Murray My ticket was a gift so I didn’t pay for it. It will probably be the only game I go to all year when I used to go to 30+ a year. Besides, the players deserve better so it’s nice to show support for them at least once a year. And nice to voice my displeasure of the FO/ownership.
