These trees are sick of being turned into conventional TP. We spent the day at Grand Central Terminal with @MiketheTree and hundreds of his tree friends to #RootIn and rally for more people to use recycled TP. 🌳 🙏 ❤️#SaveaTreeSwapTP

@GretasBlazer I'm a tree so I can't physically sit for a sit-in, but my friends and I rooted ourselves at Grand Central to protest the unnecessary cutting down of trees to make throwaway tissue products like TP.

@DawnRBrant I'm trying to raise awareness and advocate for making the switch to recycled toilet paper; it's a small swap that can have a big impact on our planet’s health!

@Wyobandit that's exactly my point! Butt, I'm afraid I can't help much with the chapping...

@ColleenSPayne what's stupid is that my friends and I are getting cut down for the purpose of wiping butts!

@misspriss72385 the recycled content is de-inked and pulped before it can be formed into finished product

@MikeTheTree Correct but now that I know you’re talking about paper it makes sense. But does that leave any issues with ink poisoning?

@MikeTheTree Thanks for the process, so how does it kill off any STI or other infections that can be left on TP during the recycling? Plus, still didn’t answer if Hemp isn’t an option

@misspriss72385 for clarification- I'm talking about TP made from recycled paper, not previously used TP (that's gross!)

@ArcadiaAnson nah- you're still using part of a tree! Why not use recycled TP instead?

@HeartNotDivided I'm one of a kind: often imitated, never duplicated. It take a really long time for trees to grow. Clearcut forests can take more than a century to return to their pre-logging condition, and some never do. You can learn more here: on.nrdc.org/2FlIL6V

@Alex_94706 I'm all for re-planting, but mature trees like me provide homes for animals & are the lungs of the earth. It take a long, long time to grow new trees, and the demand for throwaway tissue products isn't slowing down anytime soon.

@MikeTheTree @Sally18444 But as soon as you're chopped down, several more new trees are planted! Managed forests have actually increased the total number of trees in America over decades.

@EricPaulDennis According to @NRDC, much of the tissue pulp in the US comes from the boreal forest of Canada. This forest, which acts as a massive storehouse for climate-altering carbon, is vital to avoiding the worst impacts of climate change. You can learn more here: on.nrdc.org/2FlIL6V
