@SenatorMcDowell @Toibin1 @theotriangle You are quite entitled to disagree with me but it appears that if you disagree with the current government you will be pepper sprayed and arrested, not the government I want anymore. I won't make the mistake of voting for them in the next election. They need a stint in opposition

The government has decided to pepper spray citizens before speaking to them. This government is fuelling discontent rather than reducing tensions. The opposition should call a motion of no confidence in this government.

@SenatorMcDowell @Toibin1 @theotriangle Not the mature response I would have expected from you Senator McDowell, surely you would be for a confidence motion to prove that there is confidence in government. A petty jibe like that is not very mature. After what happened in Whitegate today it's definitely warranted.

@fiannafailparty @MichealMartinTD Shame on the government profiteering during a fuel crisis, reduce the obscene taxation on fuel during this crisis. Bringing in the army against the protesters will be remembered in the next election, remember what happened to the green party. You can end this now by reducing tax

We accept the right of people to protest but this is not a fair protest. Denying people the right to fuel and to clean water. These are essentials. Warnings to pregnant women to go much earlier to health appointments because of the blockade is not fair.

@FineGaelBrux There are a lot of voters involved in the fuel protest, don't listen to them and FG will go the way of the Green party in the next election, you struggled badly in the last with no majority before this.

@BoyneNews Interestingly I can't see how it's discrimination as it is not aimed at a particular race, sex age or ethnic group but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I guess the government may have to bring in emergency legislation to cover this ;-)

@hattonsgrace @_mullally_el_ The point you seemed to have missed is that it is not a level playing field and it should be, it should be the same for all, if there's a means test for one then a means test for all, the highest amount paid out the same for everyone, what's not fair about looking for that?

Irish parents pay between €5000 and €10,000 on accommodation per academic year, we have to pay for our children’s books, and €2,000 college fees, AND we have to pay for their keep too (including food, clothing, health). Ukrainian students come here and get it all for free, plus they get a grant of €1000 per month. The Irish government are increasing the student fees for Irish students, from €2,000 back up to €3,000 while the Ukranian students do not lose their benefits if they have already started their course. Its discrimination against Irish students, its double standards and its shows exactly that the Irish government think of their own people.

@OSINTEireann It would be laughable only for it's so serious, "Approximately 80" so they don't know exactly how many they have placed, hard to believe that they have been vetted when they don't even know exactly how many there are.

Carol Vorderman bombards people she dislikes with hyper aggressive accusations often based on misinformation & crazy theories. If they answer back, they are misogynists. I have been on the receiving end. This for example: England is one of the world’s most nature depleted countries. We have destroyed our exquisite biodiversity. So one minor policy response has been to plant a minuscule % of mostly unproductive farmland to native woodland.  Carol disapproves - but rather than provide sober argument, her default is to invent a theory that attributes the unkindest possible motive to those who *do approve. In her world therefore, people like me can’t possibly be motivated to support nature recovery - instead we are deliberately deflating land prices so we can snap it up cheaply.  It’s so weird as to not merit response (& so I didn’t!) not least because planting a few trees on marginal land will have no bearing on farmland prices. And for the record my already small ‘land holding’ since becoming an MP has reduced by ~ 90%! But this is the Vorderman approach. It is cranky, aggressive & often wrong. Of course people will take issue with her. And though some will echo her own aggressive approach (I wish they didn’t) most do not.

@tds153 @vivamjm Your mistake is in applying logic, logic and common sense are both out of fashion and are not to be used or you will face the consequences from more progressive thinkers and be ridiculed.

The question I have about the Post Office scandal is that no one seems to have said “This is VERY odd. There seems to have been an explosion of fraud. Among previously unimpeachable postmasters”. Didn’t the statistics alone howl at them that something was wrong?

@Care2much18 Wasn't Harry Gleeson poshumously pardoned for that murder so still unsolved, another was name mentioned in research but no one convicted, my late mother always believed in his innocence but sadly did not live to see his pardon.

I've been researching femicide and aiming to compile a full list for the 1922 - 2022 century. This thread is for the 32 women and girls killed in Ireland between 1940 - 1949. I found this the hardest one to write, so far, seemed to be one travesty after another judicially. /1
