John and his fiancée Julie le Roux were sheltering at their neighbor's place in Marion, NC on Friday when Helene hit, triggering a "30-foot tall wall of debris" to slam into the home. As the house caved in, John was thrust one way down a mudslide -- Julie to the other. Over the weekend, a rescue team pulled John out of the muck. He is currently recovering at a hospital. Julie remains unaccounted for.
