@elgarr1 @RealSilentMaj @TrisOsborneMP Claire Coutinho, shadow secretary of state for energy security, said: "Turning our backs on domestic gas that could heat millions of homes would be madness in normal times, but it is sheer lunacy in the midst of a gas supply crisis."

This is the reason her party hasn’t recovered in polls. She knows the rise is largely due to the Iran war and wholesale costs; so do the public of course, and the market. And yet she persists in this puerile partisan gesture. Sleepwalking into irrelevance.
Kemi Badenoch@KemiBadenoch

Energy bills are rising again. Labour will blame Iran, but you’re paying more because of Ed Miliband’s net zero taxes and refusal to drill our own oil and gas. Our Cheap Power Plan would cut bills by 20% by scrapping the green taxes, scrapping VAT and drilling in the North Sea.

If you’re struggling to pay your energy bills and can’t afford food, don’t worry. Labour have knocked £1 off the entry price of a theme park.

Ed Miliband is failing. He’s not knocked £300 off our bills, he’s increased them. The cost of living is getting far worse under Ed and Labour. Ed is killing the oil and gas industry and pushing up unemployment. He is totally incompetent and needs to be sacked urgently.

I am heartily sick of all the Starmer bashing going on. So easy to sneer from the sidelines. And the way Sir Keir carries on with dignity and integrity fulfilling his manifesto more quickly than any previous government is an example to us all.#TenYearKeir #StandWithStarmer

@elgarr1 @TrisOsborneMP The move reflects a combination of economic pragmatism, strategic autonomy, and regional security considerations, signaling a shift toward a more market-driven and sovereign approach to energy policy.

@elgarr1 @TrisOsborneMP In essence, the UAE left OPEC to reclaim control over its oil resources, maximize revenue, and pursue a long-term economic and geopolitical strategy free from cartel-imposed constraints.

@elgarr1 @TrisOsborneMP we need to do what UAE are doing The UAE left OPEC to gain full control over its oil production, maximize revenue, and align energy policy with its long-term economic and geopolitical strategy. to build a better AUE ? I heard 30 years ago we were going to run out in 15 years

2/ National Insurance hikes, rocketing business rates and a hike in minimum wage mean it has become more difficult for businesses to hire people.

who is she kidding Rachel Reeves has ordered ministers to send more work to British firms in four areas - shipbuilding, steel, energy and artificial intelligence. But for millions of Britons, her new backing of local businesses could be seen as too little too late.

@rushworth_peter @TrisOsborneMP no I'm saying we should produce our own energy using the profits from the sales of such products how its being set up now is the customer is paying for the building that infrastructure then very high energy price we have the oil and gas to do this imo

@TrisOsborneMP @Millarmob Basically what you're saying like with the💧industry is that profits & dividends have been prioritised over reinvestment in infrastructure. Shareholders won't pay for these reinvestments, companies have also borrowed 💰, so the customer is actually paying for loans & improvements

@jimmy_1975 @TrisOsborneMP now that makes too much sense use the profit from producing our own oil and gas and build energy production re solar wind and nuclear but no lets get the working people tp pay for it and fill the pockets of the energy companies

@Millarmob We have aged energy infrastructure and grid upgrades needed vs others We are making the choice to de-couple from oil + gas through nuclear and renewables so we are not exposed to the same causes that have risen prices today; and during the invasion of Ukraine.
