Lliswerry host Brecon Corries today at the Newport International Sports Village, 9th v 8th in the Elite Stands Ardal Southern South East table, kick off 2.30pm.
Lliswerry lost 1-0 last weekend away at Undy, going down to a goal in the 70th minute. The week before Lliswerry had got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win at home to Caldicot Town. A goal down on 10 minutes, Lliswerry came back to equalise shortly before half time. Rhys Bevan scoring from a Lewis Miles assist. The winning goal came on 59 minutes, Liam Head scoring after good work from Jay Stapleton.
Brecon Corries meanwhile lost 3-1 at home to Risca United last weekend. Corries were a goal up at the interval, Captain Dale Evans opening the scoring after 7 minutes. However Risca equalised on 80 minutes and then went ahead on 82 minutes. Corries were reduced to 10 men on 87 minutes, Luke Roughley receiving his marching orders before Risca sealed the points with another goal deep into injury time. Brecon Corries had won 4-3 away to Abercarn United in their previous game. The home side took the lead on 10 minutes, but Brecon equalised on 21 minutes, Finlay Daniels finding the net from a Craig Evans assist and took the lead shortly after the interval Kai Saurin scoring after good work from Jay Hughes. Abercarn equalised from the penalty spot on 50 minutes with Brecon reduced to 10 men with Paul Keddle receiving a red card. However Corries regained the lead on 68 minutes, Evans scoring from a Liam McAnally assist and went 4-2 ahead on 79 minutes, Joel Evans scoring after good work from Corey Evans. Abercarn pulled the scoreline back to 4-3 in injury time, but Brecon played the game out to take away a valuable 3 points.
