You have heard it said that happiness comes from the big things in life. But I say unto you… Sometimes, happiness is simply walking to the park by yourself. Today was my first time going to the park alone since my cervical spine surgery. I cannot fully describe how it felt. It was one of those moments that almost didn’t seem real. We often overlook life’s ordinary blessings because they happen every day. Until one day, they don’t. The ability to walk without pain. To turn your neck. To breathe deeply. To sit alone on a park bench and watch the world go by, one of my few favorite things. These are gifts we rarely notice until we temporarily lose them. Today’s walk reminded me that gratitude is born when we stop measuring life by what we still lack and start appreciating what we’ve been given. My heart is full of gratitude to the Almighty God, Jehovah. There was a time I wondered if this day would ever come. Today, I lived it. Never take today’s ordinary blessings for granted. One day, you’ll realize they were extraordinary all along.
