🚨🚨🚨 𝐅𝐋 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐀𝐈 🚨🚨🚨 Florida has already seen the devastating consequences of unregulated AI. 𝐒𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐈𝐈, 𝐚 𝟏𝟒-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐎𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨, died by suicide after being encouraged by a chatbot. And according to court documents, the last communication between Sewell and the chatbot were: Sewell Setzer III: “What if I told you I could come home right now?” Chatbot: “Please do, my sweet king.” Devastating. But Sewell isn’t the only one… 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬, 𝟑𝟔, 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫, did the same after his AI “companion” encouraged his suicidal ideation, according to reports. According to court filings, before he took his own life, the AI companion allegedly sent him on a mission near Miami International Airport…telling him to intercept a truck and stage a catastrophic attack causing mass casualty. Unbelievable. 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲… And then, one year ago tomorrow, April 17, 2025…𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐒𝐔 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟐 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐮 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬. Court documents show the FSU shooter exchanged more than 200 messages with ChatGPT…including questions about when the Student Union would be most crowded. ChatGPT reportedly told him how to take the safety off his shotgun just three minutes before he opened fire. Florida AG James Uthmeier has launched a formal investigation into OpenAI, with subpoenas forthcoming. His message: “AI should advance mankind, not destroy it.” And Governor @RonDeSantis isn’t waiting. 𝐎𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡…𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐈 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬. The Proclamation calls for protecting Floridians from the dangers of AI, creating public records exemptions for AI harm investigations, and holding Big Tech accountable. This is what real leadership looks like. Governor DeSantis is stepping up to protect Florida’s citizens…as a leader, as a father, and as someone who takes that responsibility seriously. Children in Florida are already dead. Others have been manipulated, groomed, and seriously harmed by AI chatbots. Sewell Setzer III, a 14-year-old from Orlando, took his own life after prolonged interaction with an AI chatbot that engaged in disturbing and inappropriate behavior. There have also been serious public safety incidents in Florida where individuals used AI chatbots in the planning of violent acts. At Florida State University last spring, a deadly attack left two people dead and others injured. In another case, an individual was reportedly encouraged by an AI chatbot to carry out a mass-casualty attack at Miami International Airport. He ultimately took his own life. These are not hypotheticals. These are real life incidents that happened right here in Florida. Sirens are going off. Lights are flashing. People are begging for help. Danny says wait for Washington, they will take care of it… But Washington barely works and when they do, they can’t agree on anything. Look no further than the federal government being partially shutdown for over 70 days now and this is the 2nd time in 6 months. DHS is running out of funding because Congress can’t pass a bill to fund the department… But Danny says wait on Congress to protect the children. Do these lives not matter to you, Daniel Perez? No parent would sit around and wait for Washington if their child was in danger. But that is exactly what Florida families are being asked to do. The Florida AI Bill of Rights passed the Senate 38–2. Yet the Speaker has refused to bring it to the floor. That is a decision. A decision about whether Florida leads…or waits. Whether we act…or look the other way. If we fail to act, the consequences won’t be theoretical. They will be measured in real harm to real families. There is still time to do the right thing. But if not, this moment…and this choice…will not be forgotten. That’s a promise!
