@kinglodi7 @JoshuaBarzon Idk as much about #3 as the others. How is the Ganges as a civilization sustaining river? Yellow and Tigris/Euphrates were prone to violent flooding but Nile was amazing

Definitely 3…. The Indus Valley Civilization (Now Pakistan) wasn’t just one of the world’s earliest urban cultures…it set the blueprint for city planning, sanitation, and trade over 4,000 years ago. From Mohenjo-daro to Harappa, its legacy reminds us that true progress begins with organization, sustainability, and vision.

@JoshuaBarzon 1, There is no competition. It's surrounded by desert on 3 sides, so no one can push an army through them, on top of that, the flooding is predictable and minimal, as opposed to some others in this list where a bad year might mean millions died in flooding.

@trueblue1421 @ATrueMillennial I think the answer is that killing, while usually murder, is sometimes justified. That's within range for Nephi to have received real revelation. There isn't a justified version of homosexuality.

@ATrueMillennial I agree with this but it doesn’t answer the Nephi killing Laban conundrum. Although admittedly there is a lot likely left out of the story and w/o full context it’s hard to make a judgement call. I agree with everything you said but the Laban/Nephi situation is interesting.

Story time: I knew a man named Lance who was attracted to men. One day while praying, he says he received a personal revelation that authorized him to date (and eventually marry) another man. Just to be sure he wasn't letting his desires get the better of him, he prayed again to double check, and he felt the familiar burning in the bosom just as he had so many other times in your life. So he checked again the next day. Same answer. He didn't feel this was necessarily an answer for the whole Church. He wasn't prompted preach against scripture or denounce the President of the Church as a false prophet or anything. He couldn't explain the why or how the Lord was making it right for him, but for him specifically, he felt prompted to pursue a homosexual lifestyle. As he pondered on his quandary, he remembered the Book of Mormon. Killing was against the Law of Moses, wasn't it? And yet the Spirit prompted Nephi to decapitate a defenseless man. Obviously, personal revelation trumps all, right? So he married another man, he was excommunicated, and joined the RLDS church. You have likely heard similar accounts. How can you deal theologically with such stories? Satan is VERY good at imitating true revelation. "Even the elect" are liable to be deceived. But there are several 100% guaranteed safety guardrails Elder @DaleGRenlund says we can rely on, if we will but use them: 1. True personal revelation NEVER contradicts inspired scripture. 2. True personal revelation ONLY applies within your stewardship. 3. True personal revelation is ALWAYS in harmony with the commandments and covenants of God. 4. True revelation is ALWAYS consonant with answers you've previously received. Read the rest of his talk. He speaks of how he chose NOT to pray over a question he knew God had already answered. He shared how arrogant and unproductive it is to ask God to change His mind. And he specifically destroyed the "BUT LABAN" argument that led my friend down forbidden paths. I invite all the read it: churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-…

What’s the US’s “fourth” city. NYC, Milwaukee, and Green Bay are pretty clearly the top 3 but the 4th is more ambiguous. I feel like the main contenders are probably Madison, Racine, Minoqua, or maybe Chicago

Canadian here. It's an identity crisis en masse. Over the last several decades Canadian culture has lost its British flavour as it's become increasingly harmonised with American culture. First cable TV, then the internet. So normie Canadians have no sense of belonging and increasingly try to create meaning by defining Canada as "not America". A consequence of this loss of nationhood is the complete demonization of America. "Not only are we NOT America, but we're better than them in every way." The irony is that this anti-American sentiment grows stronger the more our culture becomes indistinguishable from yours.

My disdain for Canadians has never been higher. It’s absolutely incredible from a scientific standpoint to see an entire country with a diagnosable inferiority complex. These people are definitionally seething from the moment they learn about America’s existence

@antiantimormon @shane_pruitt78 But we don't do ourselves favors angrily playing this nuance game. The Christian world doesn't believe Romans 8:16. They just don't. And that's really sad. Might be the saddest thing about fallen Christianity. Better to use these attacks to testify of this principle.

@shane_pruitt78 Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints do not say Jesus and Lucifer are Brothers. Why would you spread a sensational lie like that? Does the Jesus you believe in not teach that bearing false witness is evil? Are there no consequences for lying?

People say Jimmy Carter cried when he was told the truth about UFOs. They say Jackie Gleason was never the same after Richard Nixon showed him something at an Air Force base in Florida. And they say the real truth about UFOs is too unbearable for humanity to handle. If any of that is true… what exactly are we talking about.
