The trouble is the activists dreaming of that solution are also hellbent on density, meaning building apartment condos and not stand alone homes, built over top of existing neighborhoods and not greenfield in new areas or reclaiming degraded industrial or commercial.

An under appreciated aspect of our current housing crisis is in the past when we imagine housing to be cheap and plentiful, those homes would be considered hovels by today’s standards. Personally I think we should build more hovels.
