Snootch to the nootch! In the View Askewniverse, Jay and Silent Bob must go together — like peanut butter and chocolate. Please welcome Jason Mewes back to Puyallup for the Washington State Summer Con happening from June 19th through the 21st. Jason Mewes is most widely known as the never-silent half of the cult heroes Jay and Silent Bob, first appearing in 1994’s Clerks and moving on with the ever-growing popularity of Kevin Smith’s subsequent films Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Clerks III, and the upcoming Mallbrats. He also has a small role in the second film in Smith’s True North trilogy, Yoga Hosers. In addition to his ongoing role as the hilariously inappropriate ying to Silent Bob’s yang , the Jersey native has also appeared in a variety of indie films, television roles and video game voiceovers. To name only a few, Jason has appeared in the films Pauly Shore is Dead, National Lampoon’s TV: The Movie, Gone Baby Gone, Bitten, Breath of Hate, Silent But Deadly, Noobz, Devil’s Tower, The Last House, The Night Crew, Deet N’ Bax Save Th’ World, and Book of Fire. He has also worked on several television series, most notably Vigilante Diaries and Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. Jason has also performed several voiceover roles such as Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie, the animated series Clerks, and a brief role in the videogame Scarface. Jason can be seen in the upcoming series What Would Trejo Do with Danny Trejo. He will also appear in Shooting Clerks, Run For Roxanne, and Halloweed. The ongoing podcast with Kevin Smith, Jay and Silent Bob Get Old, was established in February of 2007 and has continued to rise in popularity. In 2022 he reprised his role as Jay in Clerks III, alongside Kevin Smith and other previous Clerks cast members. Meet Jay on Saturday and Sunday at the Washington State Summer Con. He will be signing autographs, taking photos, taking group photos on Saturday with Kevin, and speaking on a yet to be determined panel at the show. Tickets are on sale now! wasummercon.com @JayMewes

We held this announcement for the perfect day (4/20) to announce an iconic filmmaker, actor, comedian, comic book writer, author, YouTuber, and podcaster. Please welcome Kevin Smith to the Washington State Summer Con on Saturday, June 20th. Kevin Smith came to prominence with the low-budget comedy buddy film Clerks (1994), which he wrote, directed, co-produced, and acted in as the character Silent Bob of stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob. Clerks won the “Award of the Youth” and the “Mercedes-Benz Award” at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, the “Filmmakers Trophy” at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards (Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay and Jeff Anderson for Best Debut Performance). The film Jay and Silent Bob also appeared in Smith’s later films Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks III which are set primarily in his home state of New Jersey. While not strictly sequential, the films have crossover plot elements, character references, and a shared canon known as the “View Askewniverse”, named after Smith’s production company View Askew Productions, which he co-founded with Scott Mosier. Since 2011, Smith has mostly made horror films, including Red State (2011) and the “comedy horror films” Tusk (2014) and Yoga Hosers (2016), two in a planned series of three such films set in Canada dubbed the True North trilogy. In 2024, Smith released The 4:30 Movie via Saban and in May of 2025 Dogma returns to the Cannes Film Festival as part of their Cannes Classics Program. Smith owns Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey, a comic bookstore which became the setting for the reality television show Comic Book Men (2012—2018). As a podcaster, Smith co-hosts several shows on his SModcast Podcast Network, including SModcast, Fatman Beyond, and the live show Hollywood Babble-On. He is known for participating in long, humorous Q&A sessions that are often filmed for DVD release, beginning with An Evening with Kevin Smith Meet Kevin on Saturday, June 20th at the Washington State Summer Con. He will be signing autographs, taking photos, taking group photos, and speaking on a yet to be determined panel at the show. Tickets are on sale now! wasummercon.com

Our favorite Comic Book Man returns. Held hostage in Houston last year, Ming Chen missed his annual pilgrimage to Bumpy's and Bob's Java Jive in 2025. Please welcome back the Sultan of Summer Con and the Unofficial Ambassador of Puyallup to the Washington State Summer Con from June 19th through the 21st. Ming Chen spent seven seasons on AMC's Comic Book Men and has been involved in one way or another with the View Askew Universe for the last 20 years. He was recently featured in "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot" and the "Clerks III" movie and was awarded The Most Outstanding Hockey Player" award from the film. Ming Chen’s road to Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash all began in 1995 when the college student, video store employee, and Kevin Smith follower developed a fan website based on the movie Clerks. Smith appreciated Chen’s work and asked him to create the website for his production company, View Askew Productions. Ming has hosted a weekly podcast called I Sell Comics! with Michael Zapcic and co-owns a podcast studio with Zapcic called “A Shared Universe.” He is a partner in a coffee, gaming and comics café called “Coral Sword” in Houston, Texas, with retired major league baseball player Hunter Pence. Come hang out with Ming Chen all weekend at the Washington State Summer Con from June 19th through the 21st. He will be signing autographs, taking photos, and hosting a few yet to be determined panels at the show. Tickets are on sale now! wasummercon.com

Conan O’Brien congratulates Danhausen on his WWE debut, recalls meeting him: “Five years ago this month, we did our very first fan episode. I really love these segments and the very first one featured a fan of mine named Danhausen. Now, Danhausen is a wrestler, and he explained to me when we did this very first fan episode that he had loosely based his character, his wrestling character, on me if I was an interdimensional demon, which seems redundant to me. Danhausen and I had a great conversation. We talked about comedy, performance, the love of entertaining people. And what struck me, and still I remember this to this day, Danhausen told me that he had been grinding away for the past eight years, driving 12 hours every weekend, just be able to get up in front of people and wrestle. And this is a guy who just applied an incredible work ethic to his passion, and I was so impressed with this fellow. Now it's five years later and I am thrilled to report that Danhausen has recently made his WWE debut to rave reviews. And this is proof again that if you can marry hard work to your passion, you can go places. So on behalf of myself and all of us here at Team Coco, massive congratulations and mad respect to Danhausen. And I'm so proud of you. Happy for you.” (Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend)
