@VinnyWize @PierreVLeBrun @SunGarrioch Yeah but Cassidy forgoes the money and he doesn’t get the job, he’s gets nothing. No one is signing up for that. In a normal situation if Cassidy gets hired Vegas doesn’t pay him. That’s the benefit to them in this situation

@PierreVLeBrun @SunGarrioch If Vegas fired Cassidy they shouldn’t have the right to stop (and block) him from getting another job. That’s not fair. If it’s a contract owing thing, all Cassidy needs to do is forego what Vegas would pay him for sitting out since he’d be paid by new employer.

@TheDanKingerski @PGHWinery The biggest hang up is the ownership change… I’m not sure the cap is more important than cash to the Hoffman group. The cap gamble is great but the cash gamble can hamstring you.

@TheDanKingerski @PGHWinery I think this is a good spot for EP plus for the first time in a long time they have a legitimate farm system, so it’s seems they have assets to trade. Realistically a big trade depletes the system right back to square one. The potential impact vs acquisition cost makes sense.

$69 million gamble. I’ll bet you a bottle of @PGHWinery red that the Penguins are never credibly connected to him let alone acquire him.
PensEmpire 🇨🇦@PensNHLFan

@TheDanKingerski I know people don’t want EP40, however he’s the exact player Dubas will probably go after and get. Mid 20’s and not happy in his situation. The ethic concerns I get but that skill is undeniable. And the organization seems to love priding themselves on rebooting careers

@TraiDay79 I was asking more about the continuity/chemistry aspect of having the same QB because of the changes more so than anything else

@MiniVANth We won the AFC North with him in a system that was anything but what he was comfortable with. I think it will legit make a difference. And his OL and running game will be stronger

Barring injury, This is the first time since 7 we will have the same opening day starting QB in back to back seasons. Obviously don’t know what that means yet from a success standpoint but it does give me a semblance of comfort with all the new pieces that are expected to contribute on this offense in ‘26. #HereWeGo

Sources: Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers now have reached agreement on a one-year deal. Rodgers officially is reuniting with the Steelers and their new head coach Mike McCarthy for the 2026 season.

@MarkMaddenX I found it believable just because of how straight forward he was. He left no room for interpretation and he also took the easiest path for letting him walk off the table by saying he isn’t blocking anyone from moving into that role.

Not sure about that. The first answer is what he has to say.
Anthony Constantino@MiniVANth

@MarkMaddenX He used it in regard to knowing he’d be breaking up the big 3 when he took the job not about about Geno coming back next year. I think in that context it’s easier to take the first answer at face value.

@Matthew_Sean96 It’s a solid point. This version of Letang is not good, but if you listened to the fans in the past you’d think this was how he always played and it’s not a decline

Here's my issue with how Penguin fans have treated Letang, I know he's not very good anymore, but even when he was at his peak, the fans ripped him every chance they got, he's gotten a bad rap his entire career, that's my biggest beef.

@MarkMaddenX It’d take the leafs wanting him out and Matthews refusing to waive his NMC to anywhere else for the pens to be an option and even then im not sure thats enough

@DanHoppOPS it’s important they talk through 71 role and the what ifs - if he’s on board then sign him. 58 having a significant role next year is much more nostalgia based than 71. At best he’s your 5 and ideally 6 with almost no PP time. Contract is the only reason hes back at all imo

@DanHoppOPS I’ve thought about this from all perspectives and I don’t see how they don’t bring him back. The only thing I’ve read that has merit is that if he struggles the coaches might struggle to demote him and that 71s ego becomes an issue in this situation.

Some fans & commentators have a universal opinion that teams being aggressively unsentimental is always the “shrewd” option, even if (in cases like re-signing Malkin) the “sentimental” option actually has a more rational case. Letting him walk is actually more vibes-based

@MarkMaddenX Roster construction is so complex with the NHL style cap an intelligent casual fan is going to come across clueless. With 71 we are adding fans who only think emotionally, and that’s not even taking into account the people who are clueless about everything. It’s a mess!!

@natestorr @ChrisMuellerPGH The only way of adding that much youthful talent is dealing 17, 67, or both and that likely opens up space for 71 anyway. To me it comes down to him being ok with a PP2 role and if his ego will handle a reduced role if his play slips or they take a swing at the deadline.

I want Malkin back but if they can replace him with a younger better option then they should do it. Do whatever you think puts the best product on the ice. @ChrisMuellerPGH

@Ari_on_twitr @JoshYohe_PGH In terms of usage…for me it’s on the wing and PP2. There’s also a load management component too for me. I think 50-60ish games so he’s got gas left for April.

@Ari_on_twitr @JoshYohe_PGH He helps in the business of winning tho. Part of that is laying out your plans for using him and letting him decide if he’s on board. If he is he’s still a good player. The FA class sucks so the cap isn’t an issue. I’d love if they could get 58 to retire however
