I've seen some people talking about it, but SOTE really is the easiest ERRA album for me to connect to emotionally. I don't know if it's just the phase of life I'm in, but it really is a beautiful piece of work from start to finish 🥹♥️

I have had people say that it’s hard to understand what Jesse is talking about in the new erra album but tbh this is the most digestible lyrics I think we have ever gotten from them.

Okay this is gonna be a long one but bear with me because it's actually important. If you're the type who scrolls past walls of text, just read the TL;DR below and come back when you're ready to get mad: TL;DR: Governments and big tech are quietly building a mass surveillance state under the excuse of “protecting kids” and “stopping crime.” Discord's facial scan/ID verification is just the start. This crap is spreading to apps, social media, 3D printers, and eventually the entire internet. If we don't fight back now, privacy, anonymity, and real freedom are gone for good. Wake up and push back before it's too late. For last couple of days we have all been laser-focused on what Discord is doing along with what they plan to do and yeah it's justified. Starting next month they flip everyone to teen mode by default unless you prove you're an adult with a biometric facial scan or ID uploads. No more adult servers or access without handing over your face or personal ID to their verification system. It's predatory as hell and it's sold as “safety,” but it's straight-up mass surveillance. Not to mention they have blatantly lied to all of our faces about the severity of their nearly 70,000 leaked user details last fall after claiming they do not retain ID verification documents/information when they obviously, and quite apparently, do. The problem is this isn't stopping at Discord. It's already bleeding into everything else. Look at federal legislation trying to be passed like KOSA which forces platforms to monitor and filter for minors, or state bill proposals like Alabama's App Store Accountability Act that make you verify your age just to download an app. Soon you might need to scan your ID or face to grab a game, a messenger, or anything else. iOS people in the US are screwed because sideloading isn't even an option here. Europe has some limited sideloading but Apple still locks it down hard. Your only real shot at freedom right now is a de-Googled Android device where you can sideload whatever you want without potential big-tech/government gatekeepers, or ditching the phone altogether and going back to a regular PC preferably running a privacy-respecting OS where nobody owns your install. And it only gets worse. Governments are now coming for other types of tech such as 3D printers. Washington state has bills like HB 2320 and HB 2321 that would force printers to scan every file you try to print to block “ghost guns.” They say it's about public safety but they already have the tools to stop real crime if they wanted to. This has never been about kids, guns, drugs, or any of the usual excuses. It's always been about control. Creating a surveillance state just like the one they criticize China for, killing online anonymity, and turning us into tracked compliant cattle. It's no secret that big tech and governments are working together with the elites to monitor everything we do, say, and create. They want us to think we still have freedom while they capture everything we do in our lives. Most people are too distracted or blind to see it happening in real time. So for everyone in the US please do this: go look up these bills yourself. Check the US Congress GOV site for federal legislation and your state legislature site for local ones. Call, email, or message your representatives and tell them to vote no on this garbage. Push back hard. If the laws pass anyway we have to get smart with workarounds, open-source tools, and privacy-focused setups to stay free because if we let privacy, security, and anonymity die we end up in a world where freedom is just a nice memory and most of us will wish we weren't around to see it. Don't sleep on this and keep on fighting.
