Valve’s new Steam Machine has sold out in Japan despite a starting price of around $1,175. Four versions were available through Komodo Station, with prices ranging up to about $1,640.

Do the people complaining about the steam cube even know how expensive it can be to build a small form factor pc

- The price for the Steam Machine is, in fact, too high - It was clearly intended to be an entry level living room PC - Valve didn't intend it to be this high - Valve shouldn't be expected to sell at a loss Many things can be true at once

The problem with the Steam Machine is the price. Any price set above an impulse purchase is going to invite people to consider the alternate utility, and that question has different answers at $1,428 versus $800. For that money you could get: -A PS5 Pro AND a bunch of games. -A Mac Mini AND a Nintendo Switch -A new TV AND a PS5 -A low-end PC AND a monitor and peripherals -An American-made guitar and a practice amp -A rifle and reloading equipment The list goes on! I'm not saying it isn't worth it, but as the price goes up you start to think about the other things you can do with that money.

bruhhh let's even forget about muhh DIY. It didn't even take me 5 minutes to find a prebuilt gaming PC cheaper than the Steam machine and would absolutely curb stomp it. What utter garbage this thing is.
