@WorldOfTigra Also people saying a main character can't be a Mary Sue is craaaaazy. Not everyone has to be Shinji (Evangelion) and Subaru (Re:Zero) where their only privilege is being the literal chosen one, but the MC usually has development, journeys, arcs, etc.

neither of these is correct a Mary Sue is an obvious author insert and has lost all meaning in critical analysis because of overuse and co-opting of its original intent by misogynist internet chuds

@WorldOfTigra That's extremely wrong, the original Mary Sue was an insert but it was because she entirely made her plot break character relationships, development, and inner logic all to pander to her. With powers and abilities that have no basis or reason to exist.

Luke lost a hand, required a group effort, and never won against Vader. Meanwhile Rey has zero trauma or injuries and will just hijack the entire Skywalker last name to feel good.
