When I was 7 years old, I was already a responsible family man in my own eyes 😭
There was this girl in my class—my “wife.” Not girlfriend o… wife. I had already mentally paid bride price with Capri-Sun and cabin biscuits.
Every day in school: “Have you eaten?” “Who sat beside you today?” “Don’t play too much with that boy, I’m watching him 👀”
I was operating at CEO Husband level.
One afternoon, I came back home with full confidence and made an announcement like a village chief:
“Mummy, please prepare food… my wife is coming to visit.”
The way my mum paused… slowly turned… and looked at me like she was trying to confirm if I was her real child 😭
“Your what??”
“My wife. She will be coming tomorrow after school.”
Ah.
That was how emergency family meeting was summoned without notice.
My dad adjusted his sitting position like a High Court judge. My mum folded her arms like she had been waiting for this moment since 1999.
“Come here.”
Next thing— Marriage was cancelled with immediate effect.
No appeal. No court adjournment. No visitation rights.
They didn’t just end it… they disciplined the marriage out of my soul 😭
For the next few days, any time I even greeted a girl too happily:
“Is that your wife??”
That was how my 7-year-old love story ended before it could even reach introduction stage.
Till today, I don’t know what happened to my “wife”… but I know one thing—
Nigerian parents will not let you run a parallel government under their roof 😂

My daughter received a proposal from her boyfriend last week, they are super happy. We are too...we all love him. I just found out that another boy is in love with her & was planning to propose next week. Should I get involved? Oh & also, he is 4. They’re all 4.
