Bednar says they got the double minor right. He didn’t know what their options were, but he says Manson got him with his stick and he was just hoping it wasn’t vicious enough for a major plus game. Of course, by that description, the call was wrong. Since Manson and Bednar admits the stick got McCarron, should have been a major + game

McCarron dragged Manson to the ice. He remained on top of them, and Manson pushed him off, hitting him with the end of his stick in the process. After a long review, the refs handed Manson a double minor for butt ending.

Just texted with @ESPNRefNHL. He says "there is a double minor for attempted butt ending. If they cannot determine absolutely that the stick hit him but the attempt was made, then the double minor is the proper call." So, they got it right

@AnthonyLaPanta Thats officiating the circumstance not the rule. He made intentioanl contact with the butt end, he switched hands he was holding the stick with, and dragged Mac down. Thats about as easy a 5 and game as you get.

Four-minute power play. Probably the right call. Definitely a penalty, but I didn't think it was worthy of a major. Bush league play by Manson either way.

I can understand Wild fans frustrations on this. I don't think it was boarding but I can maybe see why some think it is. Just trying to see both sides and be fair. But in the end, refs didn't call it and Boldy jumped right up and took off and was fine. No harm done.

Another part little later in the segment. They said they were fine with it. One says he's biased and could see where it was boarding, but still they were fine with it. And something tells me these 2 guys more about the Wild than you and I ever will. So if it's coming from them....well 🤷‍♂️
