To me, #WorldBookDay isn’t just about sharing the books we love, but understanding that we have the power to write our own stories in life - so today we did just that! My class are Little People, with Big Dreams💭 (sorry, bit deep for a Thursday night)

To celebrate the ‘Year of Reading 2026’ my class have been holding a book club, with a mystery reader each week. This week we welcomed Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson to read to the children 👩🏻‍🏫 So proud of our incredible school, team and children 📚✨

I'm working with the Labour Government to ensure that EVERY child can achieve and thrive at school 🍎 That is why it was an absolute pleasure to welcome @bphillipsonMP, Secretary of State for Education, to @HucknallFHA - one of our fantastic 'Outstanding' schools here in Sherwood Forest. Ensuring all children have access to books is key to their development. As part of World Book Day, we discussed the importance of reading for pleasure and heard from the children all about their favourite books 📖

Alongside World Book Day celebrations yesterday, our Hucknall Flying High Academy welcomed the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson. She surprised Year 2 pupils as their secret reader! Here's a sneak peek. #WorldBookDay #FlyingHighPartnership

It was great to welcome Bridget Phillipson the Secretary of State for Education to Hucknall for World Book Day 📚🌏 Improving educational standards across this constituency is an absolute priority of mine. Where you are born should not determine your future. Here is just a snapshot of the visit that took place today:

We marked Children’s Mental Health week by taking part in a daily mile, learning about belonging & how to look after our minds🧠 But felt it was important to press pause on daily life & take the time to enjoy something my Year 2s love most…art! Here’s our Year 2 Art Retreat🎨

Fast forward to the spring term and we’re busy uncovering our history enquiry ‘What is the history of the streets beneath our feet?’ Learning all about the exciting history of our local area and the history of flight ✈️✨

Time to refresh my twitter after an accidentally long break from tweeting, here’s what I’ve been up to as Miss Castledine this year… 🪁☁️

An annual ritual for ‘Acts of Kindness Day’ sharing the love for all the adults that make our school so special ❤️‍🩹

A team refresh to our ‘Wall of Wonder’ - now one of my favourite corners of school. A space that celebrates everything our school encompasses; being kind, working hard and flying high ✈️☁️

A winter yoga retreat for my lovely little Year 2s to help us practise mindfulness, stretch our bodies and find calm 🧘🏼‍♀️✨ We can’t wait to hold another one in the warmer spring months outside in the fresh air 🌞

A glorious autumn term enquiry ‘S.O.S how do we clean the ocean mess?’ Around saving our world from plastic pollution and the effects of climate change. The children learnt about jellyfish blooming and created jellyfish sculptures made from recycled plastic 🪼♻️ 🌎

To mark the general election, today we held a little democracy of our own. We learnt about the importance of this day and everyone's rights to vote. Our writing in the provision will hopefully persuade the government in charge to stop climate change and protect our Earth 🌎

What a beautiful morning for a Nursery open day. It was lovely to meet so many children who will be joining us in September and to already see them interact so beautifully with our outdoor provision. ✨🌻☀️

Y2 welcomed local aviation expert Brian to discuss our estate’s incredible history, linking to their enquiry ‘What is the history of the streets beneath our feet?’ The children shared their knowledge and Brian gave us insider info on all things planes, engines and pilots! ✈️🪁
