partially collapsed lung, y'all!!!! Not a pneumothorax (blood clot), but something called Atelectasis. I won't know until tomorrow what they'll do about it. I don't think it's that big a deal. Prayers appreciated, tho. I'm trying not to judge. I'm failing. But I am trying. 😁

Welp... Not sure what to make of this. I have not felt to great for a few weeks. Like 6+ weeks. Saw 2 male docs who dismissed my concerns. Didn't listen to my description. Saw one female ARNP yesterday & she jumped right on what I said & I had a CT today. I have a freakin'

I’ve recently finished this by @lucyjones and I think it’s a must-read for school leaders. It includes the damning fact that 75% of children spend less time outside than prison inmates. Even in cities, it doesn’t have to be this way.

@ItsEmilyKaty @LeanneMaskell1 I think it feels faster because you’re busy and therefore don’t have the time to stop and reflect on things at the time.

@MissF_Lowe Aww yes I wrote a list recently as it was a task in @LeanneMaskell1’s book and was surprised!

I’ve never known time to go as fast as it has since I finished uni. I’ve been in my job ten months. I cannot understand how the school day felt so long, but the work day is over so fast. It’s mid 2023. Covid lockdown was three years ago. I’m 22 next month. Time is scary.

Packing a picnic for Wimbledon tomorrow, and I’ve just caught myself putting the cream in its own Tupperware “just in case.” This is it. This is the moment. I’ve become my mother.

We are changing our Year 8 novel next term to The Giver. Does anyone in #teamenglish happen to have a scheme of work they would be prepared to share?

@mrs_denglish Completely agree. There is so much brilliant literature out there for KS2 and KS3 - so use it, rather than a watered down version of texts that they’re neither emotionally mature enough or academically ready for.

Secondary English teachers, can we stop pretending that a rigorous English curriculum means moving A Level texts down to Year 7. It doesn't. And those text lose somewhat on the way. Maturity matters when discussing texts.

@AlysonBrooker Thank you. I know I’ll be alright, it’s just pushing open the door on the first day is like starting again at 0. I spent six years building up a good reputation in my last school and I feel like an idiot for just walking away from it.

@MissF_Lowe Remember that you just need to take it day at a time at the start. Then before long, you’ll be in with the bricks and wonder why you were so nervous. And focus on all the things you’re looking forward to about it: new challenges, new people etc.

Starting my new role in September suddenly seems a lot closer than it did when I accepted it. Incredibly nervous. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to try and alleviate this?

@MissF_Lowe I'd write down what you're worried about, and then start challenging it. Perhaps even talk it through with a friend. I'd also write down the reasons why you think you got the job, and how you're going to feel a few weeks in, where things have gone well. It will be ok.

@lockwood_mrs_dt Independent schools - we’ve already gone for summer! I did go in a few weeks ago and had a lovely time. It’s just nerves kicking in now that I’ve broken up for summer and left a school where I knew what I was doing.

@MissF_Lowe Can you go in before the end of term to remind yourself of why you wanted to work there/ meet some staff/ students & try to put your kind at ease?
