Apologies in advance, will mainly just tweet what I'm listening to, and my Birmingham City related pain. Mute me now.

It’s easy to l get stuck in moments of stress or worry - but the good news is it’s just our brain creating an emotional loop 🧠⭕️ If we pause and notice, feel it in the body and then relax that part with a deep breath, we can break the loop and make a tiny shift towards relaxation ⛓️‍💥🧘‍♀️ Over time tiny shifts can make a big difference! Thank you Dr Elisha Goldstein @Mindful_Living for sharing your wisdom with our community. Elisha’s book Tiny Shifts is out now and you can watch the full recording of our live event together over on YouTube 📖🎥 youtu.be/sPEeajo5XJ8?si…

The local elections in one chart. Labour has been squeezed between the Greens in young wards and Reform in older working-class wards

Good to see govt doing a review of access to face-to-face banking. While it won't be a big deal for many on here, for many elderly and vulnerable people in person banking is crucial and we need to protect it.... gov.uk/government/new…. Afterall we collectively bailed the banks out during the financial crash, and that 'too big to fail insurance means in my view there is a social contract that they need to support these things.

I'm looking for someone earning top salary (£100k) to talk about the ways they are 'stingy' but these habits help build wealth. Eg, always shopping at Aldi or buying own-brand / never buying brand new car / haggling for discounts. Need to be happy to be pictured. #journorequest

By the way, the most effective (if not easy) way to get this done would be to swap MP defined benefit pension scheme for defined contribution (like most private sector staff). They'd get the hang of markets pretty sharpish and maybe pension rules would stop changing so often.
Merryn Somerset Webb@MerrynSW

This is why a one month course in how markets work should be compulsory for all incoming MPs. Don't have to pass an exam (that would not be inclusive...) but should surely be forced to at least sit thro some sessions explaining the basics.

The odds of having dementia at age 85 were close to 1 in 3 in the 80s; now they are 1 in 10. I don’t think we have a great explanation: better cardiovascular health, diet, and education are often mentioned. Good news nonetheless. Carnall Farrar. (2025, March 27). Dementia trends.

After 7 years of shared ownership, clients complete the purchase of the final 25% share in their house today which now converts to freehold and is "all theirs". They are naturally delighted. Shared ownership can be an excellent product when done properly. Just take advice and read your lease.

Dan has now dug into tax issues from Green, Labour, Tory & Reform politicians. Makes me think 3 things 1. Dan is scrupulously non partisan 2. Is the system too complicated if people with big interest getting it right struggle 3. Are Lib Dems just really good at doing their taxes?

This in @joshsimonsmp piece captures in one anecdote hundreds of people we’ve spoken to in recent months who make up Reform’s second 10-15%. They have worries about Reform (SEND actually has become one of the most mentioned ones) but feel they have to vote against the status quo
