So the waves of anxiety are kicking in more now 😫😰 Is anyone else stressing about the realisation that in exactly 2 weeks, they will be in charge of many pupils for the first time since March? 😱😦 #NQTsecondary #NQT #edutwitter #english #impostersyndrome

Finished teaching #Macbeth to my top set Y10 last week - Tomorrow we do a knowledge check, then we plan for an essay! Hoping to get them pushing conceptually by considering the tragic structure of the play. #gcselit

Y9 will study war poetry next half term. In the past, we have exclusively focused on WW1 poetry, but this year we’ve decided to look at other conflicts. I am so excited to teach our scholars ‘If I Must Die’ by Dr Refaat Alareer, to explore the hope and resistance in his work ❤️

Creating some ‘one sheet’ revision resources on the Power and Conflict poems for my classes. We have a few students that missed lessons and I’m hoping these will help them and they can be homework for my year 11s! Let me know if interested and I’ll upload to Google drive 😁

I always sneak a visual literacy activity into my intro. lessons on the Single Text. Whilst prepping to teach 'Macbeth', I came across this image from the Japanese art director Yuni Yoshida. I had to incorporate it into the activity. There is so much going on here! #EdChatIE

In the canteen, we display a rolling PPT: things that have happened in school, club timetables, news, weather etc. Great for culture! We also show things to prompt convos - dingbats, jokes, facts... I'm sharing the first 50 days here in case they are of use to anyone else! tinyurl.com/canteenICS

GCSE MACBETH
GCSE MACBETH@GCSE_Macbeth·
Knowledge and ideas have to come first. Time and help must be given to develop them. The difficult part about an exam question such as "How does Shakespeare present ambition in Macbeth" or "How does Stevenson present hypocrisy?" is that those are conceptually challenging! ....1/
