I think I have finally figured this out. I have never shared anything before - quite nervous! Thank you for all the positivity. As I said, this booklet was hugely inspired by the wonderful educators of twitter. Edit away and any suggestions are welcome!

#BookTwitter we need your help! I run Book Bodega, an Indy bookshop in Ramsgate. Winter is killing us, it’s soo quiet & we need to make £800 by Tuesday to pay our bills. This is my current view = no customers 🥹. Please shop with us and help us stay open!

Never forget, READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest impact of any factor on children's life chances. It's more important than how rich your parents are! So always make books central; make time to read to kids; and make sure you encourage them to read for themselves. #literacy

@AVisserFuray Wow - thank you so much! I found your discussion on TTRadio - where you spoke about building a reading culture - beyond helpful at the beginning of my journey and reading and literacy leader. So thank you for that, too!

This is an excellent booklet with examples of disciplinary literacy, including teaching students to read like a literary scholar, a scientist and a mathematican. Thank you for sharing!

@bex_renshaw Definitely want more subjects in there! Just trying to wrap my head around the logistics of including ‘option’ subjects🧐

@MissJessiman This looks brilliant. I have passed to our literacy co ordinator. Addition of some humanities would be great. But this is great to get pupils (and staff) seeing that literacy IS in maths and science!!

Launching KS4 reading booklets in our mentor curriculum. The aim is to allow students to see more explicit links with their learning through disciplinary reading, whilst also expanding their cultural capital. Inspired by @FunkyPedagogy (thank you!) #reading #literacy #edutwitter

@Ello_Miss @FunkyPedagogy Our ks4 mentor curriculum is focussed on supporting the growth of confident learners & lovely human beings! 1 session = assembly, 1= reflecting on the topic of the assembly. 1 = academic mentoring and another is disciplinary reading. We alternate 1 between competitions and news

@MissJessiman @FunkyPedagogy These look great - can you tell me more about what a mentor curriculum? Is this a sort of intervention?
