@becky_bridges @MissRodgers17 This is really interesting. Would it be possible to get a copy? Thank you

@StarlightMcKenz @FrasierShoes A- lack of resilience and a culture in school (time out cards clustered within friendship groups) b- parental request/ our own naivety that this was supportive c - genuine regulation strategies
English

@MissRodgers17 @FrasierShoes Thinking critically, why were pupils a) wanting to avoid a challenging lesson and b) given time out cards for which this is the replacement, c) deemed to be no longer want to avoid a challenging lesson because they stroked their hand in a square and breathed?
English

@StarlightMcKenz @FrasierShoes Again, thinking critically, it should be clear that a teacher is able to differentiate between a pupil wanting to avoid challenging lessons and a pupil with clinical anxiety and react accordingly.
English

@MissRodgers17 @FrasierShoes Anxiety is an SEN in the Code of Practice. It is recognised as SEMH. Lack of resilience usually resides in staff. Staff as professionals trained into recognising and responding to SEN needs is a myth even teachers don’t peddle…

@FrasierShoes @StarlightMcKenz In our context, it’s typically not undiagnosed SEN, it’s a lack of resilience. Ppls leave lessons when it becomes challenging. Staff are professionals trained in recognising and responding to SEN needs. This sheet is not for that. We have other systems for supporting SEN pupils
English

@MissRodgers17 @StarlightMcKenz Mostly undiagnosed SEN then.
English

@bernese02 @becky_bridges Generally, we try to improve pupils’ literally skills rather than lessening the reading challenges they face. Pupils will need a high level of literacy to access their GCSEs/life. Those that struggle for reasons liked to SEN are given suitable alternatives.
English

@becky_bridges @MissRodgers17 My daughter could not have accessed this. It's for kids with decent literacy skills, good comprehension etc and I suspect that a lot of your target audience don't have this. I applaud what you are trying to do but it needs to be much simpler - more visual and fewer words.
English

@Littlejems3 @becky_bridges Lessons are not traumatising, they are confronting and challenging. Pupils need resilience to cope with these feelings so they can cope better when these challenges arrive in life
English

@becky_bridges @MissRodgers17 Isn’t it awful that lessons are so traumatising that this level of intervention is needed for some pupils? Surely the environment needs changing?
English

@MissRodgers17 @becky_bridges I don’t seem to be able to dm you? Wonder if you need to follow me too?
English

@FrasierShoes @StarlightMcKenz This is not designed to support SEN pupils, but to support pupils who have previously used a ‘time out’ card to leave lesson when anxious. We have greatly reduced the number of pupils with these cards to ensure we are properly safeguarding pupils and encouraging resilience.

Please be aware that children needing a time out card or similar #SEND interventions may be relying on you to know about infection triggered brain inflammation #PANS #PANDAS @PANSPANDASUK has free CPD training #edutwitter #inclusion
English

@becky_bridges Very disheartening ! But very clearly proves why we need to teach young people to manage their own emotions and build resilience and coping skills independently. 🤣I needed those skills today.
English

@djbelfield @becky_bridges Hello- dm me your email and I will send it across. I will try to make it editable too
English

@becky_bridges @MissRodgers17 I would love to use this if she’s happy to share?

Hello all. Looking for some recommendations on evidence based cpd for improving school attendance (high school) ideally a webinar or book. Thank you! #attendance #improvingattendance

@boohoo_cshelp hello. How do I email you please. When I try to do so via the website it says that you don’t have a phone number
English

@blodwyn22 @Team_English1 I do a thing called ‘Pictionary’ which isn’t like Pictionary at all it’s one slide with an image, then part of the quote then full quote. Have about 50 quotes per text. We do it every lesson. You can just do recall or you can do a bit of analysis for each one. It’s game changing
English

Bright ideas for learning key lit quotations? And how many is enough? @Team_English1
English

@amy_smith117 Hello. Sorry I know you’ve had a lot of requests but please may I have a copy?

@VodafoneUK a bit fed up, I’ve not been receiving calls, having trouble with outbound calls and my phone doesn’t switch to 4g/mobile data when I’m out without Wi-Fi being manually switched off. It’s been 3 days!! 191 just says there is a fault. Any updates??
English

@Positivteacha I get what you’re saying but I’d argue that feminism is about choice. Not every woman has to be (or wants to be) a boss babe/fighter/breadwinner/pirate. We shouldn’t demonise girls wanting to be be a maid or a homemaker or anything ‘soft’/considered feminine.
