@OwenJones84 It is a fallacy that women's rights and trans demands can co exist without damaging women's rights. Women understand this now and are fighting back. At least Sunak seems to get it - Sturgeon refuses to listen to genuine concerns of women.

@RealMonyMonz @DalrympleWill @NJ_Timothy At least they don't expect this practice to flourish outside their community whereas some people would like to see all women covered up.

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

If her friend wants to play pretend as a boy, she can’t have sleepovers with the girls anymore. Consequences of own actions.

@EdwardJDavey The segregation is a huge issue for me. The increase in women in Kingston wearing scarves, hijabs, burkhas is striking. We are sleep walking towards real problems.

@k_salberta @HazelAppleyard Maybe. But it sounded like it was all the old crowd ie girls. Girls who transition often dont get accepted by the boys. It's not equivalent to boys who transition that way. I would be surprised if natal males wanted to attend tbh. But yes, fair enough to check

@carpenterdrums @HazelAppleyard This is the issue. Here in the UK you can't do surgery like this on children and they stopped giving puberty blockers to children - there is supposed to be a trial but that's been paused due to concerns about leaving yp with ongoing problems.

@bernese02 @HazelAppleyard If it’s illegal in some states then it should certainly be illegal to practice this medically, especially on vulnerable young people. It’s medical malpractice and using children as guinea pigs. Do they offer Mental Health support in the future. Even dentists have aftercare plans.

The “late self induced abortion” fear assumes women ignore MONTHS of obvious physical change and then suddenly opt for the most difficult, risky, stigmatised option available. That’s just not how people behave. Women act early. When they don’t, it’s because something has gone wrong (access, knowledge, safety) not because they fancied waiting

Ok lads, let’s practice some theory of mind. You are a lady who discovers she is pregnant because her period is late. So roughly 3-6 weeks pregnant. Uhoh! You absolutely don’t want it. Do you; a) take a pill as soon as possible to end the pregnancy b) wait for the morning sickness, the visible swelling, stretch marks, and difficulties with mobility and weight before getting round to an invasive and painful surgical late-term abortion 97% of women do A. The other 3% are dealing with horrendous health complications and fetal abnormalities.

@DalrympleWill @NJ_Timothy All over North Africa and the middle East, women were forced to start wearing scarves or burkas. See Egypt, Iran for example of how things can change quickly. Some people want that here too. More and more women here are being forced to cover up. We need to be vigilant.

Muslims make up just 6% of the population of Britain. Conspiracy theories currently being aired by right wing bigots that they are secretly plotting the Islamic domination of Britain are the 21st century Islamophobes' equivalent of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and just as idiotic.

@carpenterdrums @HazelAppleyard I know. It is awful. Read what Elliot Page said about having her (his!) breasts cut off - describes it as life saving. But hasn't had the bottom surgery

@NadiaWhittomeMP Of course we argue that groups of people should be excluded from these things - look at what you did to Palestine Action supporters for example. You do it when it suits you. All goes do this.

The far-right’s reaction to criticism of Nick Timothy's comments shows that they are experts at playing victim to evade scrutiny and manufacture outrage. If you argue that one group of people should be excluded from the right to free speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of belief: don’t start whining when people hold you to account for your bigotry and hypocrisy.

@carpenterdrums @HazelAppleyard I googled it and apparently less than 5% have penile surgery. Instead they cut off their breasts and use little pouches to create a bulge in their trousers. It's really extreme to have the penis surgery, which involves taking skin from the arms and is really invasive

@bernese02 @HazelAppleyard How do they officially become male, I'm aware of differing stages. At which point is a penis created. Did the OP clarify the stage of transition? If early on then there can be no issue at this stage but at what point does it become a hard no. Maybe taking a stand early is best?

@k_salberta @HazelAppleyard But the whole gender critical movement is based on sex matters. We can't ask for bio boys ie trans girls to be banned from girls' spaces AND ask for bio girls ie trans boys to be banned too. It's like with toilets, sports, prisons. Born female, you get to access female spaces.

@bernese02 @HazelAppleyard True, but then that makes it very difficult for the mother, because any objection stated to the girl has to be based upon the biological sex of the other participants, and even asking the question implies disagreement w/ the girl being trans. "No boys" is less divisive.

@carpenterdrums @HazelAppleyard How would they have a penis? I don't think that's likely. Surely it's more likely to be self ID, maybe breast binding. A working penis is a massive step - it isnt even legal in lots of places.

@NadiaWhittomeMP Perhaps Labour could ban the burkha like they have done in other western countries. I think that genuine concerns are pushing some people towards islamaphobia and you are acting like it's all a right wing plot.

Within just 48 hours of the Tories refusing to sack Nick Timothy for his Islamophobic comments, the far-right is circulating a list of MPs “of foreign descent” trying to “silence” him. This is what happens when racism is normalised from the top: democratically elected representatives being told that we shouldn't be allowed to make decisions here at all, and even that we should leave the country. It’s a racist attack on our very democracy. Will Nick and his party condemn it?

@oolon This is why they can no longer compete against men. However, the difference in sporting ability between men and women is such that they can still be competitive among women. They can continue to compete against even younger women even when they are older or unfit or unathletic.
