Project Hail Mary is definitely an early film of the year contender. I don't throw the M word around very often - and not sure I will this time (need to let it marinate a little) - but it's a stunner for sure. Expect to see this fella everywhere soon...

#PredatorBadlands is a blast, but it's really not a "Predator" movie, as such. The more family-friendly tone works at times, others it does feel like it's pandering a bit too much to a younger audience. Still, it's a thoroughly entertaining cosmic buddy movie.

Seriously, what a fun watch. And I even found myself enjoying some of the songs. Am I getting soft in my old age?

Hmmmm…..he’s obsessed with Man of Steel so will wait to draw my own conclusions 😉

I liked but didn't love #Superman , which is undeniably fun and engaging but also kind of all over the place. I can totally appreciate what Gunn was going for with the more sincere, corny vibe, but it wasn't for me (it might have helped if more of the humor landed). On the plus side, Corenswet is a fantastic Superman, likewise Brosnahan as Lois. Slightly underwhelmed by Hoult, who plays Luthor as more petulant and obnoxious than genuinely menacing. I'd say this is a successful (if unremarkable) starting point for the DCU. It's definitely going to be divisive, though, and will likely disappoint anyone expecting the second coming of superhero cinema.

Boots. Boots.... #28YearsLater is... an odd film. Much more surreal and smaller scale than I expected, with some surprisingly tender and even heartbreaking moments. There's also a bunch of somersaulting Jimmy Saville impersonators. All in all, I really liked it. But ill need to let it sit for a while before even attempting a review. Comer is the standout, but young Alfie Williams is definitely one to watch. Oh yeah... it's incredibly tense and gruesome.

I loved #Thunderbolts. Never underestimate a clever script with compelling characters and a strong emotional core... All the CGI superhero battles in the world mean nothing without them (Ahem... Brave New World). Pugh and Pullman are the standouts, but I was most surprised by John-Kamen's Ghost. Best MCU movie since Endgame? I'm not sure it's quite on Wakanda Forever's level, but not much in it.

#Sinners will be the film to beat this year. A full-on, blood-splattered rock (well, blues) opera with a pair of career-best performances from Michael B. Jordan. Impeccably directed by Coogler, who has delivered his best work yet. It might try to do a bit too much in the last act and there are a couple of questionable plot/character developments, but a certified banger nonetheless.

The Day of the Jackal is a perfect example of a story being stretched beyond breaking point for the sake of an extended season. This would have made a gripping 5 or 6 ep miniseries, but now I hate everything about it. And they've renewed it for another fucking season.

The first 4 episodes of #AgathaAllAlong are pretty great. Very funny, a little strange (though not as creepy as I'd hoped), with a couple of musical numbers for good measure. The story still hasn't really come together, but it's a lot of fun walking the road with these witches.

A very quick and spot on review if you’re thinking of seeing it this weekend!

#Furiosa features some incredible action sequences, but never comes close to the high-octane thrills of Fury Road. It's a very different film in many ways - commendable, but prequel revenge tale feels a little subdued as a result. Taylor-Joy rages, Hemsworth is an unhinged riot.
