Today was one of the reassuring days of virtual teaching. 🥰 While reading the mentor text from a unit from the UOS, SS created mental movies from the chapter I read aloud. SS had never done this before and can’t wait to use it in their own reading lives!!

I’m trying to use this quarantine time to learn who I am as a teacher and as a learner...sometimes your mind is your own enemy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have missed reading daily to my Ss, so this week I have been reading from "The Thief of Always" and the number of Ss joining me each day continues to grow! Many went to find a notebook at home to call their new readers' notebook. <3 #cohort2classroom #BCSconnectED

Even though my Ss have been away from the classroom, their reading lives continue to be transferring the skills I have taught throughout the year into their lives at home as they read independently the books of their choice! Can't wait for Monday's reading session!

Today, @MissWilson5th and I were able to do our Potomack Literacy PD. We came together as a whole group to discuss the importance of readers notebooks. We then separated into groups. 3rd grade focused on poetry and RUOS distance learning ideas. #cohort2classroom #PotomackAIR

My vocabulary word wall may not be completely finished however, today while reading a social studies article my students came across the word "supported" and had remembered that the word could be replaced with a the vocab word "advocated"! #cohort2classroom

Received this beautiful shipment of FREE Scholastic Books for the next UoS (which is in planning)!!! This shipment brought a lot of excitement to me, so I can only imagine how excited my Ss will be as they get to end their year with the best Unit of all! #cohort2classroom

Ss have been searching for claims and evidence to support those claims in our latest UoS. I would have to say our first flash debate was a success as many Ss considered an overview. #cohort2classroom

These students transferred all their notes and strategies learned from our Nonfiction Unit inorder to complete their inquiry project on Westward Expansion. They accompanied their project with a 5 paragraph essay using the BCS Literacy Model. #cohort2classroom

This week we have focused on determining the difference between a topic, main idea, and providing text evidence with supporting details. These students are ready to complete their first inquiry project in our non-fiction unit of study! #cohort2classroom
