Getting to be there and share a meal for the community Iftar at @cooppriesthorpe was such an amazing experience. Thank you to @liz_halfpenny and everyone else who was involved in organising such a special event.

Today was a good day and now I get to celebrate delivering my first CPD workshop by having a glass of wine with my favourite person. Happy Friday everyone!

Such an incredible experience at the Subject Network for history today. I feel like I came away with so many takeaways and actions and ultimately felt very empowered. Thanks so much @KatieAmery for putting it all together.

I’m sure it’s got nothing to do with the fact that four of the houses down our small street have had tenants forced out and been turned into air bnbs. 👀

Well my landlord has just told me I have to be moved out of my home of 8 years by two weeks after Christmas. The reason? “The current government are just so unfair to landlords with the new legislation coming in about children and stopping no fault evictions.” 🙃 What. A. Joke.

This mini trip to Romania may just have been the most eventful 24 hours I have ever experienced. Very fun and absolutely nuts.

I’m in Romania for less than 24 hours. Any sweets or treats I should be bringing back with me?

This is so heartbreaking. I don’t think I can adequately describe the gratitude I feel for having known Helen and for how much she helped me. Helen was such a warm and giving person. Her love of history and of making history teaching better was and will always be inspiring.

For those who knew and loved my inspirational friend and colleague, Helen Snelson, it is my sad job to tell you that she died yesterday afternoon. I know how much she meant to so many of you and she was so grateful for your support and love these last few months.

My other favourite part was when Mary said: “I think it is a mistake to think of history as solely the pursuit what is true when so much can be learned from studying the lies we tell.”

Favourite part so far has been the discussion of social mobility in the Roman Empire. A very interesting discussion of slavery and elitism. As always Mary explains things in such a captivating and clear way.

@SnelsonH I use an extract from Hobsbawms “Age of Extremes” for exactly this purpose. He describes the end of ww1-2 as an age of calamity and the end of the age of empires. He uses a nice analogy of the age lasting the lifetime of Winston Churchill. It’s from the introduction chapter.

Feel grateful for the brave people who came before me and fought for my right to vote. Now to enjoy a succulent Chinese meal with @Stu_Burrito
