@MissionSoho
The Solar & Heliospheric Observatory, is a project between ESA and NASA to study the Sun from its deep core to the outer corona and the solar wind.

In addition to investigating how the Sun works, @MissionSoho is the most prolific discoverer of comets in astronomical history ☄️ It has tracked the destinies of thousands of these icy mini-worlds as they endured fiery encounters with the Sun. Here's SOHO's 4000th comet. Its 5000th is just around the corner... 📽️ ESA/NASA/SOHO/K. Battams

It's official – @MissionSoho has hit 5000 comets! ☄️ Spotted on 25 March by citizen scientist and seasoned comet hunter Hanjie Tan, this rare 'Marsden group' comet is extremely small and faint. See the comet next to the Sun 👉 esa.int/ESA_Multimedia…

During its three decades in space, SOHO has become the most prolific discoverer of comets in astronomical history. Designed to observe the Sun, the telescope’s prowess as a comet-hunter is an unexpected success. (Pictured: SOHO's 4000th, 3000th, 1500th and 750th comets)
