In the past 3 years, how many of you have received calls from people you never expected would call you to beg for money to feed themselves? This is how bad our economy has gotten. I don't think that many homes eat 3ce a day anymore. It's either 0-0-1, 1-0-1 or 0-0-0. End.

One striking trait of Hausa people is our strong attachment to our language. The reason you will see even when two Hausa English professors meet, they naturally speak Hausa. This pride in using our language, wherever we find ourselves, is a key reason Hausa remains so dominant and widely spoken. Hausawa don’t shy away from using our language.

This is a personal project very close to my heart. I am developing a Recreational Park and Sport Arena in my hometown, Gaya Local Government in Kano State. The project is a modern community hub that will combine leisure, sports, commerce and social services in one place. The facility will feature a mini stadium for football and basketball, an event centre, a restaurant, a supermarket, shops and a mosque. My vision is to build a space that will serve families, empower young people, support businesses, and become a lasting landmark of pride and progress for the good people of Gaya. Allah ya ba mu ikon kammalawa. Ameen!

So this is how we are thinking of redesigning the Igbo apprenticeship program “Igba boy”. For the pilot program, we will likely take in 200 persons to engage in the training on global quality carpentry, bricklaying, tilling, plumbing, HVAC, POP and electricals. The trainees will engage in an intensive 1 year program which they will be housed and fed. No holidays during the program. An additional 3 months will be on business and commercialization. Once they complete the cohort and they meet the standards set, they will be settled with a good amount of money to build on the business arm of their skills. Those who don’t meet up will be dropped off from the program. We will be visiting training centers in Togo and Germany in the coming weeks to solidify our plans and training partnerships. Let’s brainstorm… what do you think?

Let me use my own life to explain why some politicians suddenly start complaining about Nigeria once they leave power. When I’m at work in Nigeria, my life is heavily subsidized. I live in an apartment with 24/7 electricity, armed security, cleaners, and house help, all paid for. I even get food at work. I’m driven everywhere, from work to shopping. In that environment, you’re almost shielded from what's really happening on the streets. But the moment I’m off duty and back in my house in Lagos, Omo, reality hits differently. I suddenly realise that fuel is actually 1334 Naira per liter. Yes, I still have a driver and a cleaner, but now, I’m the one paying their salaries. In less than 14 hours outside that comfort zone, I’ve already spent 83,600 Naira on fuel for my car and generator. As I am typing this, my gateman just switched off the generator. I don't know if he's trying to save fuel or if it has finished. All I know is that I’m lying here on my bed, starting to sweat. That contrast is real, and it explains a lot.

Council tax is the boldest bill in the UK. You pay it whether you use the services or not, it goes up every April without asking, and if you miss it they escalate faster than any other creditor.

To those asking. I will Try to Explain this Canadian Immigration, What it entails, the process and how Nigerians can benefit without gatekeeping. Ensure you read to the end not to miss any details. Canada wants international medical doctors to move there more easily. They are offering: 1. Multiple pathways to Permanent Residence (PR) Doctors can apply through 5 immigration routes, mainly through: •Express Entry immigration system •Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) •Regional / territorial health worker programs These allow doctors to become permanent residents faster. 2. Fast 14-day work permit If a province nominates a doctor, the doctor can receive a work permit in about 14 days. That means: •You can start working in Canada quickly •While waiting for PR approval 3. Family can move with you You can include: •Spouse •Children They can: •Get open work permits •Study in Canada Important thing many people misunderstand Even though Canada wants doctors, YOU CANNOT IMMEDIATELY WORK AS A DOCTOR WITHOUT LICENSING. A Nigerian doctor must still go through Canadian medical licensing. That usually involves: •Exams •Residency or practice-ready assessment The main licensing body is the
Medical Council of Canada. Now let’s talk about the realistic pathway for a Nigerian doctor. A Nigerian doctor typically follows one of these routes. Pathway 1: Express Entry for Doctors This is the main immigration route. Step-by-step: 1. Create a profile in
Express Entry immigration system 2. Submit credentials: •Medical degree •English test (IELTS or CELPIP) •Credential evaluation 3. If your score is high enough → receive Invitation to Apply 4. Apply for Permanent Residence 5. Move to Canada 6. Begin licensing process to practice medicine. Pathway 2: Provincial Nominee Program (Fastest route) This is what the tweet is referring to mostly. Provinces that recruit foreign doctors include: •Saskatchewan •Nova Scotia •Newfoundland and Labrador •Manitoba Process: 1. Apply for doctor job in a province
2. Province nominates you
3. You receive PNP nomination
4. Apply for PR
5. Receive 14-day work permit
6. Start working This is currently the easiest route. Pathway 3: Practice-Ready Assessment Programs Some provinces allow experienced foreign doctors to skip residency. Examples of provinces: •British Columbia PRA •Alberta PRA •Saskatchewan SIPPA Requirements often include: •3–5 years experience •Passing Canadian exams •Working in rural communities 4. Exams Nigerian doctors may need Typical exams include: •Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I •English test (IELTS or equivalent) Some provinces may waive exams if you are practice-ready. 5. Salary for doctors in Canada Average: Family physician:
💰 $200,000 – $350,000 / year Specialists:
💰 $300,000 – $500,000+ 6. Why Canada is doing this Canada currently has: •Thousands of doctor vacancies •Long patient waiting times •Aging population So they are actively recruiting international medical graduates (IMGs). 7. Reality check (important) The immigration part is easier now, but the medical licensing is still the biggest hurdle. Many IMGs initially work as: •Clinical assistants •Researchers •Healthcare consultants while completing licensing. The Canadian Medical Exam can be written in Nigeria from Prometrics Centre in Lagos and Abuja. Create an account with
PhysiciansApply.ca. Steps: 1. Open account
2. Upload medical degree
3.Verify credentials
4. Apply for MCCQE Part I
5. Choose Prometric test center Cost of the Exams •MCCQE Part I: ~$1,420 CAD •Credential verification: ~$170 CAD Please kindly share, someone can benefit from it. Dr Mary @Oluwamidunsin I will be in the comment section to answer further questions
IRCC@CitImmCanada

We’re making the path to permanent residence simpler for international medical doctors to support a stable health care system for Canadians by offering doctors: •5 options to get permanent residence through Express Entry and regional, provincial and territorial programs •faster 14-day work permit processing for medical doctors nominated by a province or territory, so they can work while waiting for permanent residence Medical doctors can also include their family members in their application.
