Woodcock among leaf litter, Watercolour and ICE, 560 x 760mm. Loving painting during this cold snap! Without a Zeiss Thermal camera would have been impossible to pick up before flushing. Just after lunch became painting with ice, palette totally frozen, ice textures visible.

After realising I’m looking on here less and less (or fewer and fewer times a week) I’m migrating to Bluesky. I’m already pleased to not be wading through nonsense adverts and promoted toss to find the odd nugget. Same handle to keep it simple. MisterIanP Say hello!

Comet A3 showing well again. Best found tracking left from brightest star in western sky.

@acorncarver About 7.22 and it was in view until just after 7.35 by which time it was too low.

Comet A3 is already almost out of view due west. Unfortunately the clouds beat me to my camera. Easily visible with binoculars. When the clouds aren’t there.

Pleasant day plodding round the Suffolk coast yesterday ending with the Aurora!

Aurora seems to be calming near Stowmarket and never reached the peaks of May but still a special experience!!

Having failed to even get near the front of the queue for Oasis, I think I’ll enjoy The House of Love and JAMC even more!!!

@MarinaPurkiss When you say he ‘is still here’, I’m guessing you don’t live near Clacton? Because he’s certainly not there.

Rosehip with Red Admiral and watching Spotted Flycatcher, Watercolour, 760 x 560mm. Tantalising quick views over the last couple of weeks led me to suspect the presence of Spotted Flycatchers in the garden, but as I painted the Rosehip today, one suddenly appeared in front 😁

@roy_marsh12 It’s always to the East of the Layer Breton causeway but can vary from distantly on the north side against the trees to, well, on the causeway itself!

After picking out the Canvasback in the distance I went off to have a coffee and a cake. I called in on my way home and while I’d been gone he had swam in to have a good preen and then promptly fell asleep. So I left.

A superb evening at @RSPBMinsmere yesterday allowed us to enjoy the peace after most visitors had gone home. Some of our highlights but we had amazing encounters almost everything!

Only a few Scarce Emeralds and I didn’t notice the scarring on the stem they were laying eggs in until I processed the pictures.

The most numerous Emeralds were Southern!

A productive explore of Canvey Island with everything we expected in abundance! Southern Migrant Hawkers were mostly tatty but this one stood out.

Some cracking Chalkhill Blues at Newmarket lately.
