Fun fact, it was the @albertaNDP under the leadership of Premier @RachelNotley who helped secure the success of a pipeline to the west coast, when global commodity prices collapsed and WTI crude traded below $0, it was Premier Notley who also secured rail access to help get Alberta resources to market. New Democrats know how to fight like hell for Alberta, build boldly, govern responsibly, and collaborate in the best interests of Albertans and Canadians. That is the kind of leadership Alberta needs now, not leadership gambling with separatism and putting Alberta’s economic future, investor confidence, and national unity at risk. Alberta’s future depends on strengthening our economy, improving federalism, expanding market access, and building a stronger Alberta within a united Canada.

Regarding yesterday’s speech by the Premier:
1. For those Albertans wanting a binding separation referendum in October; due to the recent court ruling, there is no legal way to hold a binding separation referendum this fall. If the simplified and binding stay/leave question had been put on the ballot it would have been struck down within a couple of weeks - and Elections Alberta would have been legally barred from including the question on the referendum in October entirely. It may take a year or more to appeal and reverse the judge’s erroneous decision, and until then, a binding referendum held by Elections Alberta is not legally or practically possible. You don’t have to agree with the court’s decision (I sure don’t) but that’s how our justice system works.
2. For those Albertans who don’t want a referendum at all; 700,000 Albertans signed a petition asking for a referendum on this issue and Premier Smith rightfully wants to get direction from all Albertans on this matter now - not 3 years from now. It’s time for Albertans to decide whether we want to spend time, expense and effort pursuing separation or whether Albertans want to remain, continue to work on undoing the last 10 years of horrendous Trudeau-era policies and fight for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada.
We will find out on Oct 19. You will decide. Not politicians, social media clickbait farmers or media talking heads. You. That’s democracy and it’s a beautiful thing that we have it here.
Again, the choice is simple. Either:
1. Vote to remain in Canada, put an end to this debate, and fight to make our province and country stronger and more unified; or
2. Vote to commence the necessary, albeit lengthy legal processes, appeals, and other steps needed to legally separate from Canada (including a binding referendum that complies with the Constitution).
The choice is ours Alberta. You know where the Premier stands on this question. She made herself clear and gave her reasons why she believes Alberta remaining in Canada is worth supporting and fighting for.
But what do Albertans want the next step to be?
Let’s all vote on October 19, get marching orders from all Albertans and move forward with the result.

Last week, two UCP ministers said they didn’t support Danielle Smith’s plan to ignore the courts and force a referendum for her separatist friends. Today, they both “resigned” from cabinet. Danielle Smith serves only the separatists. Alberta’s New Democrats stand for all Albertans and proud Canadians.

A caucus staffer gets emailed about some new voter tool and goes online to see what it’s about. Obviously has no clue it has been built using the alleged data breach. And somehow that’s a big UCP led conspiracy and we should toss him to the curb?
Get a grip man.
I am the Premier’s Chief of staff, am literally hated by your followers (you should see the threats I get daily) and have a wife and 5 kids at home. I have every reason to be as upset and concerned about this breach as anyone.
The difference between you and the Premier/UCP team on this is she wants the independent investigation to proceed and justice to be done…you want to score cheap political points with it even if it risks invalidating the entire investigation.

Alberta’s NDP Caucus has obtained video evidence that appears to show that a senior member of the United Conservative Party (UCP) party executive and a member of the UCP Caucus staff, people that are in the Premier’s inner circle, attended the April 16 online meeting of the Centurion Project. This meeting provided training to volunteers on how to use the separatists’ project database that is at the centre of this data breach of three million Albertans’ electoral data. The Alberta NDP Caucus obtained a recording of the Centurion Project’s April 16 online meeting, attended by 80 individuals. The attendee list and a video recording of the call identify that a ‘Rob Smith’ and an ‘Arundeep Sandhu’ were in attendance. The President of the UCP is named Rob Smith and the UCP Caucus Director of Stakeholder Relations is named Arundeep Sandhu. Alberta’s New Democrats have passed this recording on to the RCMP as they continue their investigation. This obtained video also shows Centurion Project members demonstrating how to use a database to search for personal information of Albertans by searching for the name and address of former Alberta Premier Jason Kenney. Jason Kenney’s personal information was shared on screen with all meeting attendees. This video appears to show the database that was built using the unauthorized electors list that was the subject of an injunction issued by the Court of King’s Bench on April 30, 2026. Premier Smith must immediately confirm whether Rob Smith and Arundeep Sandhu identified in the video are the same individuals that are associated with the UCP party and caucus. If these were the same UCP associates, the Premier must also explain: -Why were senior UCP officials attending the meeting? Were they directed to attend? -How she can claim, as recent as yesterday, that she only learned of this data breach from police statements on April 29-30, published almost two weeks after this meeting took place? -Why was it not reported or disclosed by any UCP or any government official to the RCMP and Elections Alberta that the Centurion Project appears to have unauthorized access to the electors list? -What actions, if any, she has taken to protect the privacy of Albertans? Albertans deserve answers and transparency from Premier Smith and this UCP government, now.
