@MitchellNy I believe his philosophy was that when you think about your writing you inevitably start to worry about it, and worrying is (obviously) completely unproductive, a waste of emotion. It is very difficult but I’ve found that this method helps me be less paranoid about my work lol

No outline, no “drafts,” light editing. I don’t rebuild sandcastles.

@_alec_ivan_ i shall give this a try. the "don't think about the writing when i'm not writing" part sounds impossible rn which is probably why it's most important. i get burned out trying to see my stories irl

@MitchellNy What I think is important is that, if this process is overwhelming (it can be for me too), try the Hemingway method of not thinking about your work unless you’re actively writing. It sounds kind of stupid and antithetical to the process but it weirdly helps if done right.

@ThuanAn_writer @BurialMagazine i second the combat sports bit! in the ring, there's only you and your body. my mind is most quiet when i'm training.

@BurialMagazine You can do combat(boxing, wrestling, BJJ) or devotion to an activity (tea making, origami, archery,...). Or just write by hand on a note in free flow mode to ease yourself. Or just walk around without any electric device. Take care brother!
