@WAPolicyGreen My wife and I visited a town two hours away. Greeted by the protesters. Parked and tried to spend money in the town. Heard one shop owner brag they've had protests every Saturday for 30 years. Let that sink in. We left and will never return.

I went into town to get tacos from my favorite food truck and saw a No Kings protest. While my tacos were being made (they were delicious, by the way), I chatted with some protesters and asked what they hoped protesting would do. The best answer was that it showed there are others who agree with you. As a conservative in Washington state, I can certainly appreciate that. It is nice to be around others who see the same problems and have the same hopes so you don’t feel alone. But I still feel that the huge number of hours spent on these protests could be better used to make communities better and provide direct help to people in need, cleaning up parks and other service. We have lost the sense that change comes from each of us and now too many people think change only comes from government and so we spent enormous amounts of time and energy to get government to do what we could do ourselves.
