Every fall, some parents at my kids' school make a funhouse. This year, while we miss splatter painting together, we still wanted to build something to share. Presenting 'Things That Glow Bump in the Night,' built with love, assembled in @scratch: scratch.mit.edu/projects/43701…

@rrrrrok_ @Mittensbrother Okay, you found this old tweet via my blog... Now I understand 😄 Good luck with your project! If you would like to share what you and your 9yo are making, I would be happy to take a look at it.

@PinkyPepper_ Very cool! I think I've used the Scratch 'wait until' block with all my homemade switch designs. It's super useful for 'anti-bounce' applications, and easy to teach.

Hi @Mittensbrother, do you think the purple block in the tweet above is helpful for students when making toss games? A kind Scratcher made it for me and I think it's easier to understand than my earlier solution using "while P1 is pressed, do pause 20 ms". Curious what you think.

@gravescolleen @MrsJHasBooks They can do you blood and superpowers without the rhetoric (Avengers 1), and they can do you blood and rhetoric without the superpowers (Agents of Shield), but they can't give you powers and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.

Okay, we are gonna watch the Marvel movies- should we go by release date or chronological order?

Monopoly is a pretty game that's horrible to play with younger kids. Modified rules for quarantine: 1) $1, $10 and $100 bills only #placevalue 2) Earn rent from your properties when passing GO. Landing on owned spaces is free. 3) $550 starting cash, first player to $1000 wins

Huge props to the builders and photographers! This is the largest Scratch project I've ever cut by a country mile, so it needs a minute to load. I recommend grabbing some little ones and building a blanket fort around the computer while you wait.

@teerahater I like this metaphor. It captures the anxiety, yes, but also the fact that we eventually get dressed every day anyway. Also, I have to go all the way back to 2nd grade to find my rad outfits.

Update my agent is in college and thinks my 8th grade outfit was cool and now I'm in 11th grade and (as expected) see that my 10th grade outfit was boring (what a normie!). I'm now rushing to goodwill to get the coolest bits of my original outfit back :/
thyra heder@teerahater

when the style choice that got you excited about writing the book reveals itself to be the gimmick preventing it from becoming an actual story...it's like looking at a photo of yourself in 8th grade wearing your coolest outfit.

With the kiddos, write penpals a hidden message with a blacklight (cheapo LED ones work fine) and a glue stick that fluoresce in UV light (most do). P.S. what else glows in the house?

@zackboston Lol, that's a pretty sweet rig! Pretty sure the game they're playing is CLOP, a fascinating bit of game design by @bfod

Best stop-motion app? Got a friend's kids (P6/7) looking to make a Lego animation. I've looked up some links, but any personal recommendations?
