Proponents laud the list's creation of shared literary knowledge, rigor, & extensive process. However, it ignores the realities of the diversity of Texas's 5.5 mil students & expects that this will improve reading skills & interest.

TEA has sent their proposed required literary works list to the SBOE for approval. This response to HB1605 goes beyond the required "at least one" literary work. Secondary levels require 5 full-length titles; elementary requires dozens. The title & even ISBN are required. 1/2
