This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

“Modern East Asian cattle appear to descend from West Eurasian domesticated cattle, with subsequent admixture with East Asian aurochs and later East Asian and European taurine lineages. These data illuminate the finer population dynamics that contributed to modern East Asian cattle. These results point to the Eurasian Steppe and Central Asia as key corridors in the early dispersal of cattle into East Asia, highlighting these regions as priorities for future archaeogenomic research”

Big Bertha, the cow that drank whiskey, lived until she was 48, broke two Guinness world records and raised £60,000 for cancer research. Big Bertha was born in County Kerry, Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day 1945 and lived until 1993, which is exceptionally old for a cow.

If you can only read one thing today, please make take the time for this extraordinary piece of writing by my cousin Caroline's extraordinary daughter Tatiana. Tatiana is a beautiful writer, journalist, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. This piece is about what she has been going through for the last year and a half. It's an ode to all the doctors and nurses who toil on the frontlines of humanity. It's so many things, but best to read it yourself, and be blown away by one woman's life story. And let it be a reminder to be grateful for the life you are living today, right now, this very minute.

The only way Ireland's World Cup dream would continue was if they could beat Portugal at home and Hungary away. Last Thursday, Troy Parrott scored twice in Dublin to beat one of Europe's best teams. Today, in one of the most dramatic games in World Cup qualifying, Parrott recorded a hat trick, with the game winning goal coming in the 95th minute. He is single-handedly taking Ireland closer to their first World Cup since 2002 🇮🇪

Everyone should know that one of the most effective ways to prevent someone from bleeding out is by simply applying DIRECT PRESSURE. Hold firm pressure as directly onto the wound as possible. Do NOT use excess gauze or towels as this just distributes the pressure over a larger surface area. If you do this right, you can literally save someone’s life with just one finger!

After Mom died, I asked dad if he wanted to move into the rectory with me, and he agreed. His first night in the rectory, the emergency line rang at 2:30 AM. I jumped out of bed and threw my Cassock on and opened my bedroom door to find dad standing there with his rosary and iPad in hand. He has joined me for every hospice, hospital, and death call since he moved in with me. He stays in the car and prays his rosary, and if I take too long, he plays sudoku. This is the man I was blessed to grow up with, a man he has spent 89 years becoming. This is the man I model my life after. Fidelity, service, strength under control, sacrifice…all of that and more. Happy birthday dad. I love you so very much.
