"Who created God?" is the Schrödinger's Cat of theological questions. It's either one of the most profound questions ever asked or one of the stupidest. You don't know which it is until look into it. My kid asked this question in kindergarten, and I was so pleased. A question like this, asked in innocence, shows critical thinking. It is the beginning of wisdom. But as a gotcha question asked by Social Media Atheists who posture themselves as knowing more than uneducated, benighted, indoctrinated religious people? It's profoundly dopey. “Enough” means enough to be successful even if they failed at first. It is a surmountable problem when your variables are mass, velocity, pressure differentials, etc. But was variables go into consciousness? Is our consciousness simply predictive language or something more? What variables constitute a memory? And how do we get from our current LLMs to pride, fear, and love? If the LLM tells us it “feels” fear, is it? On what basis do you know? We “feel” consciousness at the RAS in our head but our nervous system extends through the body and further interacts with our external environment. LLMs don’t even approach the issue of consciousness, despite what these companies marketing campaigns would lead us to believe

@Mobbin_02 @romanhelmetguy They understood enough to model wings. There’s no reason to believe consciousness can be modeled by multi variable calc and linear algebra. LLMs mimic language, not consciousness.

@hamptonism tbf the amount of studying has nothing to do with IQ. volume of retention and active recall as well as pattern recognition is where the IQ pill really hits. it hits when 2 people study the same topic for the same amount of time and one seems to grasp it much more for some reason.
