The connection is always formed at the same time, but the actual player lays dormant until whenever they selected to start the chapter, with kris just acting on their own until then.

Self-explanatory if the player doesnt exist in the prophecy. We arent necessary for Kris to do all the same stuff. A Kris is just a Kris, after all. Only our "connection" is needed, which turns on the prophecy by allowing fountains to be sealed.

Considering how important meta stuff is to Deltarune it's weird I don't think I ever saw anyone attempt to explain how starting a future chapter from a new save file work in universe

rewatched a bit of undertale today and i dont think i ever knew about the post-geno route dialogue where you sell your soul to chara. i have no idea what to make of that

@AsteriskDelta3 In the vending machine "SMILE," there's a line saying "Always at your humble service." This oddly also lines up with the undertale demon dialogue.

@AsteriskDelta3 Friend has canon dialogue, so nonsapient friend doesnt make sense. Mew mew says gaster or whoever has a hunting pack of them, not that its a whole species. Friend seems much more like an Agent Smith type character.

People tend to write off the 666 references as basically a signifier that he's Real Bad but all the star imagery meaningfully frames him as Lucifer in the classical way, as in he tried to overcome god, in his case by (i think) trying to ascend his fictional reality
