@drkathrynmannix Peonies were the last flowers I bought my mum before she died, I felt that day I’d paid in peonies, placed on the table in front of her bed because although she couldn’t talk she could see those flowers and realise she was loved. It was my gesture to say, I’ll be here til the end

I knew nights would be horrible but I think they’re even worse than I expected! I feel fine up until about 4am then I start to feel really sick 😞 I hope I get used to it!

When the book you pre-ordered months ago arrives and you husband knew it would be about eol care. I love watching @HospiceNurseJulie things may differ between here and America but love how she uses social media for preparing and debriefing families on what they experience.

@NottsNightNurse That’s how I remember the service, coming into a house in chaos full of pain, anxiety and fear and waving them off as the sun rose to prepare for another day. @gemmarawlinson my hero always 🤍

What is the evening and night service? We are there when you feel alone We are there when the world feels vast, and shadows more ominous. In the darkest hour we come give you comfort and care, then we leave like the stars when the sun starts to rise. But We are always there.

Very privileged to be have a 3rd yr student for an insight visit last night.Such a shame we don't get them more think that's the third one in 14 yrs loved sharing my knowledge. Education is definitely something that I have interest in she made notes on new eol things I taught her

Some days/weeks/shifts are emotionally more difficult as a Hopsice nurse, this week particularly but i feel so blessed and privileged to be able to do the work I do. 🤍

@Morton1867 Knew you would do it and smash it! You really take the time to get to know these patients and their wishes and that clearly they felt they could speak to you and that speaks volumes! You should be proud of yourself. ❤️

Delivered a session on Advance Care Planning to our day hospice patients today, when I’d finished I was worried it was a mistake, everyone was deathly silent. Within a few minutes, 3 people caught me to discuss their wishes & 2 wanted to review ReSPECT forms with me. Chuffed 👏🏼

Nail polish I’m sure I’ll think of more later!
